LABHOOD FUME CUPBOARDS
The LabHood range of ready to use, bench mounted fume cupboards are ideal for use
in laboratory environments where harmful substances are handled on a frequent basis.
What differentiates LabHood
cabinets from the Purair range (and others with just air recirculating through carbon
filters) is its traditional construction with a counter balanced sliding sash glass window. The sash window allows items
to be easily loaded / unloaded from the cupboard and it can be closed down when the operator is not present.
Being a re-circulatory unit means there is no ducting required for its operation or setup. Fumes, gases, vapours and
particulates are passed through the units filters, re-circulating clean air back into the laboratory. This ensures that no
dangerous substances are exhausted in to the atmosphere surrounding the laboratory. Its ductless construction also
allows the unit to be easily moved and transported.
The clear Acrylic panels allow for all-round visibility and make the unit easy to clean. The unit also has lighting to
illuminate the work surface.
DUAL MODES
The LabHood models feature continuous electronic monitoring and digital readout. Multi-mode use
can be operated in either ductless or both filtered/vented mode with the optional ducting collar.
SAFETY
The operator is protected by a face velocity of 0.5 M/Sec, ensuring the containment of all fumes
and particulates. If the airflow falls to an unacceptable level then the operator will be alerted by
the built in audible/visual alarm.
FILTERS
The filter clamping mechanism allows for the activated carbon filter to be easily installed
and ensures an even seal at the filter face at all times to prevent bypass leakage.
The main safety filter can be chosen from 12 different Carbon/HEPA types to
suit most applications.

COMPONENT CLEANLINESS ANALYSER TO ISO 16232
How clean are your components after your manufacturing and multi stage cleaning processes, perhaps not as clean as you think. The answer to this critical question is now available from Particle
Technology, the supplier of the Component Cleanliness Analyser.
Automotive manufacturers and their suppliers have learnt that the damage caused by minute particle contamination in an engine or turbocharger during the first minutes of operation can determine the reliability and life expectancy of that component part. With this information manufacturers now understand that there is a tolerable level of residual particulate contamination on a component that should not be exceeded. The problem has been how do we accurately measure the particles on a part such as a crank shaft or a turbocharger, the solution is now available from Particle Technology.
The Component Cleanliness Analyser measures the cleanliness of parts, components and systems in accordance with ISO STD 16232 and also in accordance with ISO STD 18413:2002. These standards specify the methods to be used for evaluating (extracting, analyzing and expressing results) the cleanliness of specific component parts.
The Component Cleanliness Analyser is a stand alone mobile system that can be installed in any manufacturing location by plugging it into a single phase 240v power supply. The equipment comprises four integrated modules: a clean air cabinet; a non toxic aqueous pressure cleaning and filtration system to capture residual particles from the component under test; a high quality microscope with a 3MO colour video camera to view the captured particles and a unique set of software to measure the size and count the number of particles. Reports can be generated in a variety of ways that meet the ISO 16232 standard or the Volvo/Scania standards
The system has been designed and developed to be easy to operate, easy to install, environmentally green (no solvents) and cost effective.

KOJAIR VK AND VKV CUPBOARDS
Kojair fume cupboards are designed for laboratory use in industry, hospitals, schools, etc. They protect employees from exposure to materials and gases hazardous to their health. The fume cupboards
are attached to their own exhaust ventilation ducts with mechanical air extraction.
Construction and materials
Kojair fume cupboards are made of stainless (AISI 304), acid-proof (AISI 316) or stove-enamelled steel. The surface is corrosive-proof and easy to keep clean. If necessary, strong solvents may also be used in cleaning.
The front sliding door is made of laminated glass. The sliding door comes equipped with a counterweight that holds it in the desired position. Thanks to the counterweight and the bearing-mounted wire wheels, the door opens and closes smoothly and easily.
The standard basin surface is made of stainless steel. The taps in the working chamber are protected with acid-proof epoxy paint.
The open support frame is a steel-profile construction of the same material as the cupboard.
The cupboard comes in two basic varieties: model VK has an upright front wall, while model VKV has a slanted front window.
Operating principle
The fume cupboard is attached to its own exhaust ventilation duct. The exhaust suction creates an underpressure inside the cupboard. The air flows into the working chamber with almost no turbulence and reaches the exhaust vent through three grills on different levels.
The replacement air flows into the cupboard from the entire area of the work opening, preventing hazardous materials or gases from getting out of the working chamber into the room air.
The fume cupboard effectively protects the user even at low air-extraction rates.
Equipment and installation
By default, Kojair fume cupboards are equipped with fluorescent tube lighting, a stainless steel basin and work surface, an open steel support frame with adjustable legs, an electrical distribution board with two grounded outlets, and lighting and ventilation control switches.
All switches and outlets required in the operation of the cupboard are located on the front panel at the edge of the work surface.
The fume cupboard is ready to be connected to water, drain, gas and electrical systems and the exhaust ventilation duct. The electrical connection and the exhaust duct socket are located on the top; the water and gas connections are at the back of the cupboard. The necessary connections must be performed by a qualified contractor.

SAMPLE RETENTION SYSTEM - ND-1000
The sample retention system used by the NanoDrop® ND-1000 is one of the key features of the instrument. Not only does it enable the analysis of 1 ul samples, it also eliminates the need for cuvettes
and capillaries. This saves on the cost of disposable cuvettes and/or on the time and effort spent in cleaning reusable ones. For busy laboratories, this feature alone can pay for the cost of the ND-1000! Click here to view application note on NanoDrop technology.
With the sample apparatus open, a droplet of sample is pipetted onto the measurement pedestal.
When the sample apparatus is closed, the sample arm slightly compresses the droplet and a sample column is drawn. Surface tension alone holds the sample in place.
The spectral measurement is then made and quantification is made based on the tightly controlled path length of 1mm.
When the measurement is complete, the sample apparatus is opened and the sample is simply wiped from both the sample arm and sample pedestal using an ordinary dry laboratory wipe. Since the sample is not contained in a secondary vessel, the sample directly wets the system optics, reducing the variations resulting from changing and/or repositioning cuvettes. When the sample is removed, the optics can be easily cleaned making it possible to measure successive sample concentrations varying by more than 1000 fold in concentration with no carryover (see performance data).
