SCLAIRPIPE®
HDPE Pipe for Pressure Applications
Sclairpipe is a tough, lightweight, solid wall high density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe with a smooth internal surface. It is available in various lengths, diameters
of 3/4" to 63" and can handle internal pressures of 50 to 300psi. Flexible and heat-fusible Sclairpipe comes with a range of fittings designed to work with the pipe as a complete system. Thermal butt fusion provides an economical and fast method of delivering a complete, long, continuous length of pipe. The fused joints are as strong as the pipe itself, providing a continuous leak proof system.
Sclairpipe is well suited to replace copper, ductile iron and concrete pipe in many applications due to its' unique benefits:
* Leak Proof: The butt fusion method of joining provides an integral pipe-to-pipe joint without the need for mechanical connections. The integral fused joint provides continuous long lengths of pipe, thereby eliminating the risk of joint leakage due to ground shifting.
* Flexible: The flexibility of Sclairpipe allows it to adapt to uneven ground, unconsolidated river bottoms and excavated underwater trenches without the need for expensive foundations or minor degree elbows.
* Corrosion Resistant: Polyethylene is inert to salt water and to chemicals likely to be present in sanitary sewage effluent and it is highly resistant to levels of chlorine that are typically added to water intake lines.
* Light Weight: Sclairpipe weighs approximately 1/10 that of a similar sized concrete pipe. Handling requires a minimum of heavy equipment and Sclairpipe can easily be assembled on ice or through wet marshy areas.
* It Floats: Sclairpipe will float even when full of water. For marine applications long lengths of pipe can be assembled on shore and then floated into position.
Classifications & Approvals
Sclairpipe has a cell classification of PE 345464C in accordance with ASTM D3350. In addition the Plastics Pipe Institute classifies it as a PE 3408 material. Sclairpipe is FM approved by the Factory Mutual Research Corporation, an internationally recognized test laboratory for components of fire protection systems. In addition it is CSA approved and NSF listed.
Proven in Many Applications
Since its 1959, large diameter HDPE pipe has been used successfully in many installations worldwide. In North America, where large diameter, high density polyethylene pipe was introduced in 1968, Sclairpipe has been installed for river, lake and salt water crossings; both municipal and industrial fresh and salt water intakes and effluent outfalls. Sclairpipe has also been used extensively for pipeline repair and rehabilitation.

Sclairpipe is available in a wide range of diameters from ¾” x 1” Copper Tube Size (CTS) pipe for municipal water supply applications and ¾” to 63” nominal outside diameters in Iron Pipe Sizes (IPS). At 63” it is the world’s largest diameter high density polyethylene pipe. The standard length for Sclairpipe is 40’ with 50’ and longer lengths available on request. Coiled pipe is stocked in diameters up to 2” and is available in 250’ and 500’ lengths. Larger pipe sizes and coil lengths are also available.

Design and Function
The shape and contact materials of the special slip ring are selected specifically for the application intended. From a variety of extensively tested slip ring components and systems, a customer-specific solution is developed. The transmission of 300 channels of different currents is possible.
Applications
The areas of use range from the error-free transmission of digital data as with Interbus, Profibus, CANbus or Ethernet, with data rates up to the Gbit/s range, to the finest analogue measurement signals of e.g. thermal elements, PT100, DMS or encoders. Power currents of several 100A can be transmitted with our slip rings as well.
Models
For the transmission of high power currents or for large rates of rotation, we mainly use copper or silver graphite contacts on brass slip rings. For the transmission of data, fine signals, or small power currents, we use precious metal contacts. For very high data rates up to the Gbit/s range, contact-free fibre optic rotary transmitters can be integrated into the slip ring system.
For the simple installation on the machine shaft, or on one of our rotary unions, the slip ring is offered with a durable metal housing. By integrating the transmission technology in a housing rated up to protection class IP 67, our products are also suitable to meet the most extreme industrial demands. The rotor coupling can occur directly on the shaft, or by way of a flange or plug-in connection. For integrating the product into the customer’s equipment, the slip ring body can also be offered as an open version for ease of mounting.
If there is a need for a very small length, the slip rings can also be arranged concentrically.

SPIRAL PIPES
The coextruded pipes made of flexible and rigid PVC are the sure and competitive alternative to the rubber pipes.
They are generally used for conveying water, oil, air and abrasive products and also
as conduits for electric cables.
They stand out because they are light, robust and economically convenient. Their resistance to abrasion, ozone and atmospheric agents is very appreciated.
The spiral pipes are produced by coextrusion. Thanks to a special coextrusion head the melt flows from the two extruders are transported to form the rigid layer (inside) and the flexible, soft layer (outside). For the medium-small diameters it is possible to use "multi-strand" heads (two or three outlets), while for the largest diameters it is always advisable the mono-strand extrusion.

Design and Function
The SRK series of slip rings are based on many years of proven gold/gold technology. The rotor is made of hard gold-plated slip rings, which are in contact with the gold contacts. In order to guarantee the reliable transmission of current with extremely low dynamic noise, the gold contacts are foreseen with precision springs. Due to the gold/gold technology and the perfect surface quality, the highest possible contact quality and corrosion strength are attained, while at the same time there is little transfer resistance.
The very high abrasion strength of this material pair, combined with the surface contact principle, makes it possible to have an unequalled product life. In addition, this creates constant contact quality, and thus guarantees consistent signal quality over a very long period of operation of the slip ring. The electrical transmitting part of the slip ring is protected by a durable aluminium housing and enclosed ball bearings, and therefore can even obtain the most reliable results in rough applications.

The modular construction of the slip rings enables us to create new variants for new applications with very short lead times. By varying the number of poles, number of contacts per ring, and mechanical and electrical connections, the slip ring can be individually adapted for a number of applications according to customer demands.
The high packing density of the axially arranged contact rings enables the placement of up to 300 poles. The slip rings are mainly available in an enclosed model with an aluminium housing, according to protection class IP65. The rotor coupling can be attached directly to the shaft, or also by way of a flange or plug-in connection. For directly integrating the product in the customer’s equipment, slip rings can also be made available in an open version for mounting.
There are two types of contacts available. The standard contacts are made out of solid gold that can be used at medium speeds of up to 200 min-1 . With the newly developed high-speed contacts that are made of specially sintered gold, rotation rates of up to 1250 rpm are possible.
