In addition to commercial and domestic customers, the scheme promoted compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicle filling stations.The team then designed Phase 1 of the system, involving nearly 2,000km of low pressure gas pipelines, servicing over 600,000 domestic, commercial and CNG consumers.The scheme has since been implemented and has had a marked impact on improving the air quality in New Delhi. Confidential - Trans-Jordan Gas Pipeline - JordanJ P Kenny prepared a preliminary design, cost estimates and development schedules on behalf of a bidder for the BOOT scope for the Trans-Jordan Gas Pipeline project.A key facet of this project was that the design throughput increased fivefold through three phases. This complicated the sizing of the line and the phasing of the compression requirements. The option screening exercise, using J P Kenny¿s line sizing optimising tool, demonstrated that a twin line approach, with a second parallel line being constructed later was the most cost effective, rather than the envisaged single line.Remote sensing techniques delivered the route corridor very quickly and with a high level of confidence. This in turn significantly increased confidence in the cost estimates and construction schedules. >>>

Petrodar - Melut Basin Oil Pipeline - SudanFor the conceptual and basic engineering phases of this 1400km pipeline system, transporting waxy crude from the Melut Basin to Port Sudan on the Red Sea, the team used J P Kenny's line sizing tool to model the trade off between CAPEX and OPEX. This enabled the optimum line size to be quickly and efficiently established.Readily available remote sensed data, when merged in a desk-top GIS model, enabled the routing to be quickly developed. Satellite imagery provided detail of the terrain, whilst radar images gave an indication of the ground condi-tions, enabling trenching costs to be factored into corridor selection.A small team then drove the selected route. Route adjustments were made in the field directly into the GIS model, aided by a GPS system. The whole routing exercise took only 8 weeks and cost much less than the traditional approach. >>>
