When you need a valve that can withstand the constant flow of abrasive materials the clear winner has got to be a carbide valve. Manufacturing carbide valves can take longer than steel but then it will last between 10 and 100 times as long, so the additional investment is more than justified. The Process of Manufacturing Carbide Valves Carbide valves are produced, as you would imagine, quite like any other as carbides are a fusion of different materials using a high pressure process that results in a product that is so hard it is only second to the wear resistance of diamond. A critical part of the process, prior to machining, is the firing of your valve preforms in a Sinter-HIP furnace, which uses a combination of extreme pressure and great heat to compact the materials to remove imperfectionsand bubbles and any other flaws. The sinter-HIP process gives far greater strength than carbides that are not sinter-HIPPED. It is this process that makes it the perfect material for valves used in severe wear situations. As carbide valves form a critical part of your process each piece is inspected in line with our fully documented Quality Control Process ensuring that you don't need to be concerned for the high and consistent quality of your valves.
