The combined machining system S242 combines the technologies of cylindrical grinding and hard turning in an ideal way. Due to the design concept of the machine both applications can be done without compromises. In other words a highly productive hard fine machining of shafts and chuck components to high quality, size holding capability and fine surface finishes in one clamping. And not only interesting for large production series but also for small batch sizes and even single parts. The S242 is available in two versions (centre distance 400 & 1000 mm) - Cylindrical

grinding External/Internal, Internal grinding attachment or revolver with up to 3 Internal grinding spindles - Hard turning with turret for 12 tools (optional with up to 12 driven tools) Synchron-tailstock on its own axis with selectable axial pressure for the workpiece drive specifically definable and programmable for each individual workpiece. Multiple in-process gauging control possible. Positions and diameters can be programmed and saved for each individual workpiece. During the hard turning process, the measuring heads are protected with a Stainless Steel cover.
