PLEATING MACHINES

PLEATING MACHINES

We can make a pleater to suit your individual requirements. The pleater shown is a 300mm wide 21mm fixed height, high speed rotary pleater for high volume production of one particular filter (Dyson vacuum cleaners). Many other options are available with variable pleat heights from 8mm to 200mm. Our standard variable height pleater pleats in the range of 20-150mm but special adaptions may be made to cope with other pleat heights. Adhesive can be 'stitched' reducing the overall amount of adhesive used by as much as 50%. Pleat pack sizes can be programmed in to produce ready made packs of a particular size.We also produce pleat erection machines which take already pleated material from machines such as a blade pleater and apply hot melt adhesive and re-erect the pleats into pleat packs. Adhesive stitching and programmable pack sizes are also options available. >>>

TAILOR ROLLED BLANKS (TRB)

TAILOR ROLLED BLANKS (TRB)

Mubea Tailor rolled blanks. Flexible Rolling is a new rolling process with considerable lightweight construction potential for the automotive industry. This technology is characterised by the fact that the roller gap is selectively altered during the rolling process by means of a control system, enabling the metal thickness to be adapted everywhere along the length of the sheet steel to suit the respective loads to which the component is to be subjected. Furthermore, Flexible Rolling shortens the process of manufacturing the sheet metal and enables it to be formed by further processing stages, such as deep drawing or hydroforming. For economic production and application the continuous strip rolling of "coil on coil" is required. Mubea, in close cooperation with the RWTH Aachen, developed a new control system for this in less than three years. The system enables different sheet metal thicknesses and profiles to be manufactured within very close with the changes in profile clearly identified and marked on the strip. As part of a research project of the Federal German Ministry for Education and Research to investigate the economic and technological aspects of the new production technology, Mubea has developed Flexible Rolling to the point of readiness for series production. Today, as sole manufacturer worldwide, Mubea dominates the technology of Flexible Rolling of coil on coil. Components from flexibly rolled blanks (tailor rolled blanks) exhibit three essential advantages: the sheet metal thickness of the component can be adapted at any point to suit the loads applied and its weight thus markedly reduced (lightweight construction potential up to 40%); by selectively varying the thickness profile of the sheet metal the function of the component can be optimised; the varied thickness profile of the sheet metal offers greater possibilities for the form design. The flexible cold rolling of steel forms the initial stage of a highly developed production chain. Depending upon the customer's requirement, warm or cold strip is used. Because of the various reduction in thickness the heat treatment must be adjusted to suit the different hardness levels applied. If the entire forming process (rolling, straightening, further processing) is within the limits of forming possibilities, heat treatment can be dispensed with to save costs. With many components corrosion treatment is mandatory. For this reason the strip is galvanised. It is then straightened and cut to size. Finally, the blanks are formed. In these processes the varying sheet metal thicknesses and, if unhardened blanks are being formed, the different hardness levels taken into consideration. The outstanding possibilities created by the forming of flexibly rolled blanks have already been demonstrated for numerous components in bodywork and chassis, to the extent that today we are producing them for series production requirements. >>>
