CABLE MARKING MACHINE - WS933
The WS933 is the third generation of servo driven cable markers, designed to print progressive measurements and legends in steps of one metre or two feet, at high speed and with extreme accuracy of
print interval.
Robust construction ensures rigidity, which is the first requirement of high speed accurate marking.
Marking wheels of one metre and two feet circumference are quickly interchangeable, to minimise down time. Fine length scale adjustments can be made on the run, in increments of 0.2mm (.008").
The comprehensive control panel includes the following features of primary interest:
Display of progressive total length throughput, plus progressive length of no-print throughput.
Marking wheel temperature.
Interval length scaling, metres or footage.
Power ON, emergency stop, alarms/alarm mute and other necessary controls.
As well as the progressive length numbering unit, the marking wheel of the WS933 has a full circumferential die locking facility for printing additional information. Unique W&S cages accept single die segments, for printing variable legends.
Electro-pneumatic power enables the marking wheel to be swiftly raised and lowered to the pre-set marking position. Supporting guide rolls are multi-grooved to suit a range of cable diameters, and are provided with lateral and vertical screw adjustment.
The dual driven marking foil feed system can be built to suit any size of bobbin or foil pack.
Low state warning ensures continuity of foil feed.
An accumulator maintains foil in suspension, to ensure snatch free feed to the marking wheel.
Used foil is fed via a venturi take-off system into a filtered twin bag collection unit. As one bag fills, a hand lever throw valve diverts foil into the empty bag.

HIGH SPEED MERGING
High Speed Merging
Merging products from infeed conveyors to main line take away conveyors always presents a unique set of problems.
Axiom have developed a unique mechanical and control product
to combat difficulties involved in merging products.
Issues such as product length, width, weight and weight distribution mean that merging is far from a science, in order to resolve these issues the merge system needs high specification electro-mechanical control elements to function at the desired system throughtputs.
The merge units supplied by Axiom are tailored to fit each individual system, or project.
Essentially a mutli-stranded belt conveyor supplied at the desired merging angle receives products from the feed conveyor, at the feeding line speed (this is usually significantly slower than the merging speed).
The product is parked at the end of the merging conveyor; using high speed motor controllers allows us to accurately position the product in its stopping position.
The system intelligently looks for a gap on the main line take away conveyor, large engough to allow the product to merge. The software uses a look right and left approach to find this gap, similar to a driver pulling out from a road junction.
Once a gap is found the merge is started in high speed mode and the product is merged onto the main line take away conveyor.
Multiple merge units can be used on a single main line take away conveyor, as the picture shows.
Axiom are able to achieve a merge rate of 70 products per minute, per merge unit, based on a nominal product length of 600mm.

HIGH SPEED CASE CODE SYSTEM GXCCS
Fully-automatic and high speed
The GxCCS will prove to be the ideal solution in particular when cartons or other containers in food or non-food sectors must be identified according to contents,
weighed and marked for shipment using economical and especially technically-efficient methods. The fully-automatic system is notable for its especially high processing speed and so provides a rapid flow of goods at the end of the production chain.
Convenient control
Particularly conveniently, the system can be controlled via a PC, configured especially for this application, on which the complete GxCCS software is already installed.
The basic version includes:
Feeding, singling and aligning station for the fully-automatic processing and forwarding of different shapes and sizes of container
Identification scanner for fully-automatic product recognition even with ancillary feeding of different products
Weight detector for dynamic weighing of up to 40 cartons/minute and a maximum individual weight of 120 lb
Labeling roller conveyor for forwarding containers to the next station in the system
Labeler for the fully-automatic labeling of cartons with all required logistics codes
Verification scanner (code read-back unit) for the fully-automatic checking of labels
After passing through all units of the system, incorrectly-identified or incorrectly-labeled cartons are separated by the customer’s system.
Optional Expansion
When fully expanded, the basic version is extended by a second labeler. Periods of stoppage are therefore avoided. In this case also the labeling roller conveyor is distinctly longer than in the basic version.

MACHINES - CODING & MARKING
Machines which apply a code, (including bar codes), dates and other variable or unique information to a package or transit container. There are two basic methods: contact or non-contact; and
programmable and non-programmable.
There is a whole range of machines and equipment carrying out these functions, from simple mechanical stamps or overprinters to sophisticated ink jet and laser coders applying computer generated data. These machines are usually attached to a larger packaging machine such as a cartoner, filler or wrapper.
Modern ink jet and laser coders can be programmed to carry a large amount of variable information such as lot number, date code; sequential coding based on a unique serial number which is recorded in a secure database. A range of styles, typefaces and character sizes can be used and changed easily especially in comparison with older mechanical devices.
Sophisticated software means coders can be programmed to create a different mark for every product to create a track-and-trace feature on a pack. This helps to prevent counterfeiting. Track-and-trace features can also be used to ease product recall, monitor product quality and track products internally. Examples include sequential or non-sequential codes, a covert code or a machine-readable code.
Both small and large character ink jet coding machines are available. The former tend to be used for individual pack information and can be effective at high speeds, such as drink can lines. The latter tends to be used in warehousing and distribution on transit packages and pallets.

DUAL HEAD CABLE MARKING MACHINE - WS932
The WS932 has two independent servo driven printing heads, enabling the print segments or the print wheel to be changed on one head, while the other is working.
Switching heads is achieved at the
touch of a button, and takes about three seconds.
Fine length scale adjustments can be made on the run, in increments of 0.2mm (0.008"). Print wheels of one metre and two feet circumference are provided.
The WS932 Control Panel:
Each printing head has its own independent set of controls, and also indicators showing Wheel Temperature, Length Total, and No-Print total.
The controls grouped in the centre of the panel - the Changeover, Emergency Stop, and Foil Feed controls - are common to both heads.
The Foil Feed System:
The Dual Foil Drives can be supplied to suit bobbins for .25" or .375" wide foil. When the foil on the working bobbin is low, an audible alarm is set off, together with an amber flashing light. The second foil bobbin can then be quickly brought into use without loss of marking.
The Foil Accumulator holds a loop of foil in suspension, providing a snatch free feed to the print wheel. Should the print colour fail to appear the No-Print Detector will trigger an audible warning, and a red flashing light.
Used foil is picked up by a venturi take-off and fed into a filtered twin bag collection unit. As one bag fills, a hand lever operated Diverter Valve re-directs the used foil to the empty bag, with no break in the foil collection.
