    COLUMN HPLC - WYATT COMET™

    COLUMN HPLC - WYATT COMET™

Wyatt COMET™ (Cell Operation and Maintenance Enhancing Technology)Light scattering is the premier technique for absolute macromolecular characterization. However, it is well known that in order to achieve the most accurate and reproducible results, one must maintain scrupulously clean optics and mobile phase. Even when the mobile phase is pre-filtered, chromatography columns continuously shed small particles that, over time, can contaminate even the cleanest optics. This is where the Wyatt COMET™ (Cell Operation and Maintenance Enhancing Technology) concept becomes indispensable. This new device may be integrated with the flow cell manifold of a DAWN DSP, DAWN EOS, miniDAWN or miniDAWN Tristar and applies a radio frequency ultrasonic field specially tuned to the flow cell structure itself. Unlike traditional ultrasonic cleaning methods, the field produced by the COMET device is resonant with the flow cell bore and does not produce cavitation bubbles that might damage the glass surface-nor does it form bubbles that would affect the scattering signals themselves. When used on a regular basis, the need to remove the flow cell for cleaning may be postponed indefinitely. The COMET loosens particles that may have adhered to the cell walls and removes them on a daily basis. In addition, the periodic activation of the device can prevent the adhesion of new particles. Moreover, the device operates in-situ while the mobile phase is flowing through the cell. There is no need to disconnect any fluid fittings, change solvents, or disassemble anything. Wyatt Technology's Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Philip Wyatt noted that successful light scattering measurements come from minimizing dust and flare from the laser beam. "Up until now, our patented flow cell design has addressed these problems in three ways. First, the critical entrance and exit windows of the flow cell are located far from the scattering center to reduce the effect of contaminated windows. Second, the laser light source is focused into an extremely small beam diameter so that particulates and other contaminants on the walls are not illuminated. Third, the flow cell can be easily removed, manually cleaned, and reinstalled without perturbing the optical alignment. What has always been required, however, is an on-line method of maintaining flow cell cleanliness. That's what is so exciting about this novel device." >>>

PARTIAL DISCHARGE MONITORING - INDIPARD® IDPS

PARTIAL DISCHARGE MONITORING - INDIPARD® IDPS

Sensors for Online Partial Discharge Monitoring Brief description Active partial discharge sensors Integrated preamplifier Search coil for coupling without physical contact Inductive coupling for monitoring individual components 3-phase CapEye® amplifier for capacitive coupling electrodes Can be retrofitted in old installations Compact design and practically orientated assembly system Powered and monitored by Indipard evaluation unit Field of application and benefits The partial discharge (PD) sensors, together with the INDIPARD evaluation unit, form an online monitoring system for insulation monitoring of high-voltage and medium-voltage installations. Continuous monitoring of partial discharge activities offers the opportunity of detecting a worsening or serious change in the condition of the insulation of the equipment at an early point, thus giving the user the opportunity to intervene in good time so as to prevent more serious damage. Mode of operation The PD sensors are installed in the parts of a medium-voltage or high-voltage installation at risk. They detect the highfrequency electric fields generated by the partial discharges and forward them to the IDP16 via coaxial cable. The sensors are active, i.e. they feature a preamplifier. It is powered by the evaluation unit via the coaxial cable. Depending on application, either search coils, inductive PD sensors, capacitive coupling electrodes with a CapEye® amplifier or devices with CapEye® interface may be used. Search coil The search coil performs coupling without physical contact. It must be fitted in the electric field between high voltage and earth. Its metal bar forms a capacitive coupling electrode. Its range is approx. 2 m in open installations and approx. 1 m in enclosed installations. It is particularly suitable for retrofitting in old installations. Complete installation kits are available for specific types of installation. Inductive PD sensor The high-frequency current generated by partial discharges is detected with respect to earth with the aid of a Rogowski coil. Such a coil is suitable for monitoring individual components such as a transformer.. In this case, it must be ensured that the section to be monitored features only one defined earthable point and is otherwise installed on insulated mountings. CapEye® amplifier The CapEye® amplifier features three inputs for connection to capacitive coupling electrodes such as capacitive insulators or capacitive coupling electrodes. The range is approx. 5 m from the installation location in both directions of the conductor but ends after approx. 1 m in cable. CapEye® amplifiers have improved common mode rejection cabability. The CapEye® amplifier is particularly suitable for monitoring twin switchgear cells, in the case of multi-tier design or in the case of multiple separation of switchgear cells. Voltage test system with CapEye® amplifier The Capdis-Sx-C is an integrated, capacitive voltage test system in accordance with IEC 61243-5, either with or without contact outputs. It is also fitted with a CapEye® amplifier and thus allows monitoring of the voltage and condition of the insulation on the same coupling electrodes. CAPILLARY COLUMNS

In addition to the on-line coupling with a mass spectrometer, the driving force behind the continuous development of microbore- and capillary chromatography has come in particular from the fields of physiological chemistry and neurochemistry, where the volumes of sample available are often extremely low (µl or even nl), thus requiring maximum sensitivity. Both the reduced running costs and the environmental benefits arising from the drastically reduced consumption of solvents are further significant advantages gained by the miniaturisation of HPLC. GROM offers a full range of columns and accessories for capillary HPLC for those interested in taking advantage of the most modern developments in HPLC. WYATTQELS (QUASI-ELASTIC-LIGHT-SCATTERING) INSTRUMENT

    WYATTQELS (QUASI-ELASTIC-LIGHT-SCATTERING) INSTRUMENT

WyattQELS™ On-Line Quasi Elastic Light Scattering from your HPLCThe WyattQELS (Quasi-Elastic-Light-Scattering) instrument contains a real time digital correlator. The correlator measures the autocorrelation function of the intensity signal from any one angle of the DAWN or from the 90 degree location of the miniDAWN. The correlator then calculates the hydrodynamic radius at each elution time in order to provide hydrodynamic radii over an entire chromatographic peak. Unlike many other dynamic light scattering instruments, the WyattQELS detector, when interfaced to the DAWN, allows one to measure correlation as a function of angle. Particles larger than 150nm may scatter relatively little light at 90 degrees because of intra-particle interface or "Mie scattering". This effect may cause significant distortion in computer particles size distribution for some kinds of polydisperse samples. Since the WyattQELS optical fiber can be moved easily to any one of the 18 DAWN angles, the measurements can be optimized for the best results for particles that are very large. With most other instruments, which only make measurements at 90 degrees, if large particles are present, the signals may be low or lost altogether. But with the WyattQELS you can always move the optical fiber to a lower or a higher angle. WyattQELS Features include: Multiple Tau correlation design with a fixed range of channel from 480 nsec to ~1 hour (real-time). No sample time optimization required! A total of 264 channels with input data format of 5 bit for the first 16 channels, the the sample time doubles every 8 channels and the data width is incremented 1 bit for every set of channels. No pre-scaling required. >>>

PORTABLE PARTIAL DISCHARGE TESTER - INDIPORT IDC 20

PORTABLE PARTIAL DISCHARGE TESTER - INDIPORT IDC 20

Portable partial discharge tester for switchgear Brief description Partial discharge tests in a few minutes without having to shutdown Checkable and reproducible due to artificial PD source Specially designed for medium-voltage switchgear Utilises the coupling capacitance of the voltage testing system Fits directly to HR interfaces or equipment and sensors with CapEye®-Interface Read off and/or record measured values Long-term observations, trend recognition Data recorded on SD memory cards Evaluation on a PC with standard software Light, portable and maintenance-free Can be used without a PC Optional: sensors to record weather data simultaneously: pressure, temperature, humidity and dew point Optional: sending text messages via GSM modem Area of application The use of partial discharge (PD) tests on high-and medium-voltage installations is now undisputed. Manufacturers test their equipment before delivering it to customers. Many customers ask for a repeat test after assembly and before commissioning on site. However, these do not include the major weak points for operators, namely the cable terminations. Subsequent regular testing requires the complete isolation of the installation, is very costly and is therefore generally dispensed with. INDIPORT is a portable partial-discharge measuring system. It is designed for use during operation and does not need the installation to be isolated. Installations can consequently be tested at any time and at reasonable cost. In addition to instantaneous values, the INDIPORT can also be used for long-term measurements, including climate measurements. Method of operation INDIPORT, with its preamplifier, uses the existing capacitance taps on the switchgear, such as the HR interfaces or voltage testing systems with CapEye® interface. Sensors in the INDIPARD partial discharge monitoring system can also be connected directly. The normal operating voltage is used as the test voltage. Pulses with a known charge are fed in from the adjacent cell with the IDP-SRC PD simulator, again via the capacitance tap, and compared with the display. This means the measurement results are reproducible and comparable with other stations. Partial discharges often occur sporadically, depending on the weather. In order to be able to obtain any meaningful information about the condition of the insulation in an installation, observation over an extended period of time is necessary. Consequently, the INDIPORT includes a complete data logger for long-term data capture in addition to the momentary display with a phase diagram. SD or SDHC memory cards of up to 32 GB storage capacity can be used for data recording. PD measurements from different time periods and locations can only be compared if the most important climate data is taken into account. To do this, INDIPORT simultaneously captures the partial discharge activity, relative humidity, temperature, dew point and air pressure at adjustable time intervals. For evaluation, the memory card is removed from the unit and can then be evaluated on a PC with a card reader and spreadsheet program. INDIPORT can be combined with a GSM modem. When a PD occurs, the unit calls the service personnel by text message. This is particularly important when searching for and localising sporadic PDs. INDIPORT is supplied with its accessories in a study plastic carrying case. >>>

    MICROBORE COLUMNS

    MICROBORE COLUMNS

NovoGROM Microbore Columns – 1 and 2 mm i.d. – Many of the modern biochemical applications requiring micro-column HPLC may be conveniently solved by the employment of NovoGROM microbore columns. With 2 or 1 mm i.d. columns, a 4-fold or 16-fold increase in sensitivity, respectively, is obtained relative to conventional 4 mm i.d. columns. At the same time, the solvent consumption at constant linear flow-rate decreases by 75% or 93% respectively. The requirements for microbore HPLC (in particular constant flow at low volumetric flow-rates) are fulfilled by all modern HPLC systems, so that customers can take advantage of this modern form of HPLC simply by the use of NovoGROM microbore columns. According to customers requirements, NovoGROM microbore columns can be supplied packed with any of the stationary phases described in this catalogue, or can be packed by the GROM column-filling-service with any other (eg., customer‘s own) stationary phase. >>>

    GPC STANDARDS POLYCAL™

    GPC STANDARDS POLYCAL™

Viscotek offers a full line of GPC standards for natural and synthetic polymer applications. PolyCAL™ Standards were developed as part of our commitment to provide "Complete Solutions for GPC/SEC Applications". PolyCAL™ Standards free GPC users from tedious standard preparation tasks by providing pre-weighed portions that are both accurate and easy to use. Pre-Weighed and Ready to Use PolyCAL™ Universal Calibration Standards (UCS) PolyCAL™ UCS standards consist of 6 sets of 12 individual narrow standards each. They are designed to be used for column calibrations, either conventional MW calibration with a concentration detector, or Universal Calibration with a viscometer detector. Time efficient, no weighing and no labeling, just add solvent Cost effective, multiple use afford less $ per calibration Accurate, precise and flexible concentration control with bigger vials and larger sample weights Excellent tool for lab-to-lab standardization and cross check One standard per vial, no resolution problems Detail pre-printed labels for lab notebooks (good for GLP/ISO) Broad MW range, 12 fractions provide excellent MW coverage Available for organic (PS, polystyrene) and aqueous (PEO, Polyethylene glycol/oxide) applications Also Available PolyCAL™ Triple Detector Standards (TDS) PolyCAL™ TDS standards consist of 6 sets of two standards each, one narrow and one broad. They are designed to be used for calibrating detectors used in triple detection, such as light scattering, viscometers, and refractometers. The narrow standard is particularly useful for determining detector volume offsets and peak broadening parameters. The broad standard is particularly useful for checking the calculations for correct MWD (Mn, Mw, and Mz are reported) and Mark-Houwink parameters, etc. In addition to the weight-average molecular weight Mw, the refractive index increment [dn/dc] and the intrinsic viscosity [h] are reported. These quantities can be used to calibrate, or check the calibration, of any and all three detectors. This response calibration is a must for accurate light scattering and viscometry work. Intrinsic viscosity [h] and refractive index increment [dn/dc] reported for all common solvents. Other benefits regarding accuracy and convenience are similar as listed above for UCS standards. >>>
