    Overview Cyclotech’s B20 Series Deoiling Hydrocyclone liner represents the state of the art in produced water treatment technology, a third generation geometry optimising the critical balance between oil removal effi ciency and capacity, ensuring that peak separation is achieved in the most cost effective and space effi cient manner. The B20 Series Deoiling Hydrocyclone is used to treat water streams containing up to 5,000 mg/l oil with a requirement to meet a discharge water oil content of 30 mg/l, or more commonly stretch targets of as low as 15 mg/l. For demanding process requirements, the B20 Series has been specifi cally designed for use with Cyclotech’s novel PECT-F® performance enhancement pre-coalescer and integrated with Cyclotech’s DeepSweep® CFU systems for ultimate separation performance. The B20 Series has proved itself to be one of the most effi cient Deoiling hydrocyclones available to the Oil & Gas industry with an enviable globally installed base on both onshore and offshore facilities. Principle of Operation A hydrocyclone has no moving parts and achieves liquid/liquid separation by virtue of a pressure drop across the unit. Oily water is forced under pressure into the inlet section of the liner via a tangential inlet port. This, together with narrow cyclone diameter, causes the fl uid to spin at high velocity, which creates a high g radial acceleration fi eld. Oil, the less dense liquid, is forced to the axial centre of the hydrocyclone to form a thin oil core. Through internal hydrodynamic forces and external differential pressure control, this oil core is removed counter currently via an axial port adjacent to the inlet while the clean water fl ow is discharged from the cyclone tail pipe. Hydrocyclone Liner Design The hydrocyclone geometry is critical to achieve optimal separation performance. Deoiling hydrocyclone designs cannot be scaled up, and so the B20 hydrocyclone liners are manifolded together in a common vessel to achieve the required system fl owrate. The ultra-slim external dimensions of the B20 Series liner has been designed to provide market leading liner packing effi ciency to maximize process throughput within a given vessel without compromising on performance. Cyclotech B20 Deoiling Hydrocyclone liners are most commonly manufactured in Duplex Stainless Steel. For erosive applications, Cyclotech offers liners with all inlet and tapered internal surfaces, exposed to high fl uid velocities, manufactured from a range of wear resistant materials. These include Stellite 6, Tungsten Carbide or Reaction Bonded Silicon Carbide, an advanced ceramic that will provide a wear live of up to 10 times that of a standard Duplex liner. High Turndown Vessel Design For applications requiring very high turndown, Cyclotech offers its HTD compartmentalised vessel approach. Internal baffl es are used to divide the vessel into either two or three compartments. Each compartment can be switched in or out of service using external valving, effectively providing a number of hydrocyclone liner banks within a single vessel housing. This operation can be automated. The Cyclotech HTD design has considerable benefi ts over traditional methods to increase turndown as it removes the need for either blanking liners or multiple vessels. In a typical installation, the Cyclotech HTD design can increase turndown from 3:1 to 10:1 for a two compartment and over 50:1 for a three compartment HTD vessel. New-Build Systems Cyclotech’s B20 Series Deoiling hydrocyclone systems form an integral part of our Produced Water Treatment capability.     What is Hemcore Bedding? For good health and wellbeing, the stabled horse needs a soft, comfortable bed, which will absorb moisture and ammonia, giving a clean, dust-free environment. Hemcore Horse Bedding is made from the inner core of the hemp plant stem that is grown and processed entirely in the UK. It is not bleached and no chemicals are added at any stage of its growth, so producing a green product that is fully recyclable into useful compost. Hemp is also fast growing and fully sustainable. In the past, hemp has traditionally been grown to produce fine paper products, rope and textiles and is now also used to make Hemcore - a natural horse bedding. When the crop is harvested in late summer, the outer fibres of the stem are stripped off to produce traditional and new products, whilst the soft inner core is used to make Hemcore. It is dried, chopped, dust extracted and packed into heat-sealed, recyclable polythene bags. Now with Citronella. Hemcore is a Trade Member of the British Horse Society. Why use Hemcore Bedding? Highly Absorbent What sets Hemcore apart from other bedding materials is its very high absorbency that results in a bed that stays drier longer. It is capable of absorbing far more moisture than either straw or wood shavings, and any wet areas that do have to be dug out are small by comparison. It makes a warm and comfortable bed that provides good insulation against cold and protection against injury. Low Odour Hemcore also absorbs ammonia very efficiently, reducing its harmful effects on a horse's respiratory system, and reducing stable odour. Dust Extracted Dust and spores are extracted from Hemcore to provide a cleaner stable environment. This is particularly important for horses with a respiratory disease, but also helps to prevent such problems developing. Hemcore is regularly batch tested for dust and spore counts by an independent laboratory. Economical to Use Although starting a bed with Hemcore may be a little more expensive than with other materials, its slower replacement rate soon evens out the costs. With Hemcore's unusually high absorbency, only 1/2 to 1 new bales should be needed every ten days. Labour Saving A Hemcore bed is quick and easy to maintain, staying drier and lasting longer than conventional materials. It should be disturbed as little as possible, with the droppings being removed regularly each day, and the wet material dug out as required. Easy Disposal Hemcore creates only a small manure heap, which rots down into quality garden compost in just a couple of months. This compares very favourably with the long time it takes straw, and particularly shavings, to decompose. Convenient Hemcore is supplied in watertight heat-sealed polythene bales, which are convenient to handle and can be stored inside or out. There is no waste and no mess. Environmentally Friendly Hemcore is made from a sustainable source and is completely biodegradable. It is packed in recyclable polythene. How to use Hemcore Bedding If the stable is clean and empty, put down sufficient Hemcore to provide the depth of bed you require (8 - 10 bales for a 12'x12' stable) and spread evenly over the floor, banking up sides if required. Once all the bedding is down, sprinkle 5 litres (1 gallon) of water for every bale used. Leave to settle to allow the water time to activate the bed (at least a few hours). If a stable has an existing bed of shavings or chopped straw (or similar) there is no need to remove this completely before starting a Hemcore bed. Just muck out as normal, but gradually move existing bed towards the centre and add Hemcore round the sides over a period of time. (There is no need to add water using this method). From then on, disturb the bed as little as possible, removing droppings regularly and wet patches occasionally. Top up as required. (There is no need to add further water after the initial watering). Because less Hemcore is used, there will be less bedding removed from the stable, making a smaller muck heap which will rot down more quickly than shavings. It then makes a useful compost or mulch for the garden. Hemcore is unpalatable to virtually all horses, but if the bedding is seen to be eaten, sprinkle it with a weak solution of a safe disinfectant to discourage the habit and when adding new bedding mix it in with the old. As with other bedding materials, persistent bed eating can cause colic, gastro-intestinal disorders or an allergic reaction. In these cases please consult a vet. >>>
