The AC/DC Module sets the stage for modeling the performance of capacitors, inductors, motors, and microsensors.
Although these devices are principally character-ized by electromagnetics, they are
also affected by other types of physics. Thermal effects, for instance, can change electrical properties of materials, while electromechanical deflections and vibrations in generators need to be fully understood during any design process.
The capabilities of the AC/DC Module span electrostatics, magnetostatics, and electro-magnetic quasi-statics with unlimited couplings to other physics.

COLLAPSIBLE BOILER PROBE
Carbon steel boiler tubes behind swage reductions are one of the toughest areas to inspect today. A technician (and plant operator) often relies on fixed diameter RFT probes that are small enough
to fit through the swage.
The requirement to fit through the swage precludes the use of segmented (array) probes. Instead, fixed-diameter probes will employ a single central detector to interrogate the entire circumference of the tube. The undersized detectors often result in poor defect resolutions.
The small probes also tend to tip and wobble, creating additional travel noise and reducing data quality even further.
The Russell collapsible Boiler Probe is an advance d Remote Field Probe with swage entry capability that enables NDE technicians to inspect the tubes behind swage reductions with maximum sensitivity.
The probe’s flexible design allows it to collapse through swage reductions and expand to nominal diameter behind the swage. The 3 inch probe, for example, has the ability to smoothly collapse down to 1.55 inch diameter.
By staggering the detector coils and separating them into two groups on each side of the probe’s exciter, the probe eliminates blind spots and provides full 360º coverage. The spring-loaded mechanism of the probe, ensure that the detector coils are placed near the ID of the tube for maximum defect sensitivity.
For ease of use, the probe comes with its own probe definition file which allows the user to instantly configure the Adept Pro analysis software for the collapsible probe. Because the probe connects directly to the Ferroscope 308 system, no separate hardware setup is required.
The Adept Pro screen will be automatically configured to show the full complement of detectors. The first half of the detector channels on the Adept Pro screen represents the detector group on the side of the exciter; the second half represents the group on the other side. Small localized defects will show up on a single detector channel, while larger wall loss will show up on both detector groups. The probes are available in several sizes and can be configured with differential coils for maximum defect sensitivity.

Description
The EC200 series is the second generation of controllers in the EJC product family. This module is a complete and versatile single board computer in SO-DIMM size with very high
performance, ultra-low power consumption, industrial temperature range, and an impressive set of features and interfacing options.
The system is based on a 32-bit ARM720T processor running at 74 MHz. It features up to 64 MB SDRAM, up to 16 MB of NOR flash, and an optional onboard NAND flash which provides up to 256 MB of solid-state data storage. The OM406 Indicator/Pushbutton Panel provides a flexible and cost-effective alternative to expensive hard-wired indicator lights and pushbuttons. The panel features 6 LED indicator lamps and 4 user-
legendable pushbuttons. Each of the lamps can be individually controlled to be on, off, or flash. Each of the buttons can be individually configured to operate as either a momentary or alternate-action pushbutton.

Direct Connect to PLCs
OptiMate® modules connect and operate directly with most major PLCs. A simple cable connection allows the PLC to access each button directly simply by reading bits in data registers. Everything else is totally transparent.
Microprocessor Based Systems
OptiMate® modules connect to any computer or microprocessor-based system through a serial link. RS232 communications can be employed. The microprocessor controller simply polls for module data or sends module commands to completely control the operator panels.
Legending the Buttons
Legending the OM406 module involves simply sliding legend transparencies in two pockets in the module overlay. The bezel can be removed from the front of the module. Once this is done, legend transparencies can be placed in the pockets in the overlay (behind the lexan surface layer).
A legend transparency can be created by a number of methods. Computer graphics programs combined with overhead transparency paper and a laser printer and/or copier produce excellent results. Other options are listed in the OM406 data sheet.
Configuration
Configuring the OM406 requires the OM-WIN EDIT Configuration Editor, a cable connecting your P.C. to the module, and a 5VDC power supply with a center negative plug: all sold by Optimation.

The CX series controller is capable of setting by zone, range or group and can also display temperatures over the last 5 to 60 minutes in a graph, shown opposite.
Functions
Setting Temperatures - Changing set values could not be easier, simply:
touch the zone in question
touch [SET] to show the touch-keypad
enter the new temperature
This allows for easy adjustment of overall settings without changing the balance between zones.
Load Tuning - The controller performs an automatic load test on start up to determine the thermal characteristics of the heater load. This ensures optimum control performance with little or no start up overshoot.
Wiring Diagnostics - This menu option will sequentially check every zone in the tool for cross wiring, open circuit and short circuit faults together with checks for T/C integrity, fuse blown etc.
Slave Function - The controller allows you to continue production, in the event of the T/C failing, by slaving to the output of a similar zone. This can be done manuallly or preconfigure to an automatic fallback option.
Temperature Limits - To ensure against making faulty or out of specification parts the controller allows you to specify process limits. Outside these limits a front panel warning indicator is lit and, with optional alarm signal connections, the operator can be alerted or the machine stopped.
Status Indicators -
Normal - Processing inside set limits, functioning okay.
Warning - One or more zones are outside set limits.
Alarm - Fatal error of one or more zones. Fuse failed, T/C faults, Heating faults etc.
Tool Store - The controller can store up to 20 complete setup configurations by name, for future retrieval.
Print Reports - The controller can print setting sheets for the current or a stored configuration, process status reports or tool wiring diagnostics results.
