POLYMER ADDITIVES - CAPS & CLOSURES

POLYMER ADDITIVES - CAPS & CLOSURES

Slip additives are required to allow screw closures such as bottle tops to be applied tightly yet still be easily removed. This is particularly important for carbonated drinks which utilise liner compounds inside caps to ensure tight seals. The slip additive additionally aids the moulding and release of the cap in injection and compression moulding processes. Slip additives are also commonly added to vinyl plastisols used as sealing rings on rotatable metal closures. Migration of the slip agent to the surface of the plastisol on curing reduces the torque required to release the closure when subsequently applied to a glass container. Sensitive applications, such as bottled water and foods, require additives with exceptional stability and low odour. Standard slip agents are more prone to oxidation and begin to break down, leading to changes in taste and odour. Croda's Incroslip speciality additives provide a breakthrough in odour reduction, very low colour, and superb colour stability both during storage and processing. Developed using proprietary technology (patent pending), Incroslip additives provide a range of optimised combinations of slip and oxidative stability to suit the particular requirements of your application. Available in fine powder form, they are ideal for inclusion in plastisols in particular. >>>
