    Grey water harvesting Grey water is water from baths and showers. It is mainly used for irrigating during long dry summer periods, but it can also be used for toilets. An average family of four wastes 3000 litres of grey water a week down the drain. You can utilize grey water from baths, sinks and showers to irrigate your garden. The most efficient method is via surface drip irrigation (we recommend BioDrip line - please refer to ‘Effective irrigation’) directing the water to the root zone.Grey water does not need treatment for it to be safe for garden irrigation. It contains nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium which are beneficial to plants. It is better for you and the environment to use natural or organic body soaps and shampoos. Bleach or bleach based products should not be used. Instead, use environment friendly cleaning agents in bathrooms as these are biodegradable and have no damaging additives. >>>

    Reed beds are used by the water industry for the treatment of brown water in the small rural communities. This approach to water treatment is environmentally friendly and requires 5 m ² of bed per head population. Industry also favours the use of reed beds in the treatment of their production process water. For example in the brewing and mining industries. LINER Our approved product Keytec 642 can be supplied and installed by Keytec technicians. Keytec 642 is a low density Polyethylene (LDPE), with a polyester reinforced scrim having a proven performance record, exhibiting high tensile strength and UV stabilisation to withstand the effects of the environment. We are able to fabricate this product into panels, thus minimising site welding, which allows for rapid and secure installation in poor weather conditions. APPLICATION The excavated reed bed base is lined with sand or Geotextile and the fully welded prefabricated liner is installed to the formation. Where pipe penetrations occur, top hat sections are welded and sealed to the main membrane. The bed is then overlaid with Geotextile to protect the liner from puncture as the bed is filled with gravel. Having already installed pipe inlets and outlets the gabions are filled with stone at opposite ends. The bed is then planted with Phragmites australis reeds which passes the oxygen down the root system ( the Rhizosphere). Polluted water around the roots is then purified by the dense population of micro-organisms living in the Rhizospere which destroys harmful bacteria before the water is discharged into stream or rivers. >>>

    Unless hard water in your heating system is treated, it scales up the boiler heat exchanger's pipe work and emersion heating elements. The consequence is that water channels are narrowed, energy is lost and storage tanks lose their capacity to hold and store hot water efficiently. With modern Combination and Condensing Boilers and Thermo stores, the scale build up can dramatically shorten the service life of the heating system, using more energy than necessary to heat the home and hot water. The Aqua-Dial Combi-Care uses Polyphosphate in a dilute form and acts as a sequester preventing precipitation of calcium scale as well as offering a level of protection against corrosion and the leaching of lead. The polyphosphates forms bonds with the scale causing minerals, which make them more water-soluble. The hard minerals remain in the solution, as opposed to depositing scale on heat exchangers pipe work.     It works in exactly the same way as the HV30C, except that the whole valve is the cartridge. The advantage is that there are considerably fewer components and therefore it is cheaper to the purchaser, the disadvantage is that, after 3-5 years if the radiator starts to collect air again the whole valve has to be replaced. NLB has a number of customers for this valve, which is proving popular with mid-range manufacturers who fit them as standard on some ranges. >>>
