FORKLIFT WEIGHING SYSTEMS
Weightron's PTE on-board weighing system for fork lift trucks is a simple to install system that turns a standard fork lift into a precision mobile weighing machine. It can be installed on all fork
lift trucks with carriage plates built to FEM standards. The PTE is an invaluable asset in busy warehouses, production plants and storage depots. As well as providing weight data on loaded pallets, it can also be used to ensure vehicles are not overloaded and that weight distribution is even.
The weight is clearly displayed on a terminal mounted on the truck, which offers a wide range of weighing functions. These include multiple tare facility, parts counting and weight summation. The multiple tare function allows the operator to enter the weight of an empty pallet, the weight of an empty box or crate and the number of these on the pallet. The terminal then calculates the total tare weight and subtracts this from the gross weight to arrive at the net weight of product on the pallet.
For parts counting operations the system can store hundreds of coded average weight values and use this information, together with the multiple tare data, to calculate the number of parts on a pallet. Operators can load pallets in a number of consecutive stages and display the weight for each stage by zero-setting the display after each weighment.
In addition, the terminal provides function keys for entering, programming and storing alphanumeric descriptions and display information including date and time, product and customer codes.
Options include a thermal printer and radio link to transmit data to a remote computer or terminal. To enhance performance, an electronic inclination control is available, which compensates for the inclination of the forks. A CE approved version of the instrument is also available in compliance with European directive 90/384/EEC. Models for use with trucks equipped with tipping arrangements, fork spreaders, transfer units and pallet off-loaders complete the comprehensive range of options.

RECIPE FORMULATION SYSTEMS
The Recipe Formulation System from Stevens Group Ltd is a powerful and versatile product that is available as a stand alone weighing system or one that can be networked to a PC.
All the weighing
terminals, stand alone or PC networked, have recipes displayed on their screen so that ingredients cannot be omitted and the operator cannot complete a batch until all, at the correct weight, have been added. This ensures that the batch is made exactly as detailed in the recipe and provides savings through the reduction of scrap batches and ingredient giveaway. The weighing terminals are equipped with a user-friendly, quality protecting HACCP’s recording module that prompts the operators to respond to a number of start-up questions at each of their working areas with a report available at the end of the process showing the details of the responses.
The networked system connects a number of weighing terminals to a PC where management information is entered to control the formulation of recipe weighing on the shop floor. The PC then sends the information on ingredients, recipes and the production plans to the relevant weighing terminals and records all the responses and the ingredients that are used. Transaction data from the weighing terminals is relayed back to the PC allowing real time observation of production progress and facilitating full audit trail traceability and ingredient cost analysis.
An additional stock control module can be integrated into the PC system that monitors levels of raw materials and ingredients. Goods received are entered into the computer and they are automatically deducted as the weigh terminals use them. It also creates a powerful traceability tool. Non-conforming ingredients can be traced from supplier through to product mix. The weighing terminals are made of stainless steel and are designed to an ingress rating of IP66 allowing them to be used in a wide range of production environments.
