INDU-SCAN� AUTOMATED INFRARED THERMOGRAPHY IN INDUSTRIAL PROCESSES

INDU-SCAN� Automated Infrared Thermography in Industrial Processes Infrared thermography is an effective approach to non-contact measuring of temperature distribution for a range of applications. To use this approach also in industrial process control, InfraTec offers INDU-SCAN as a modular test system based on thermographic cameras for a variety of performance ranges for stationary applications. The thermographic camera is installed in the immediate proximity of the process to be monitored. To withstand unfavourable environmental conditions, the camera unit can be protected with a housing and an air purge unit. To cover large monitoring requirements, the camera can be mounted on a pan/tilt head. Using digital data output is an excellent pre-requisite for flawless and long-term stable processing of all pixel temperature values of the image. The image can be synchronised with the process rate. Over a connection line with varying length, if required a glass fibre transfer line, the data is passed on to the evaluation unit based on an industrial PC with a colour display. This evaluation unit permanently analyses the data according to default criteria. Statistical parameters, such as mean, maximum and minimum values or standard deviations of parts of the image, can be monitored to the same extent as individual pixels. In the simplest of cases, the measured data are permanently logged thus enabling uninterrupted documentation of the temperature curve during a certain manufacturing stage. If previously defaulted threshold levels are exceeded or fall short, switching contacts can be triggered that could be used as warning signals, for example. The measured temperature can also be provided as an analog or a digital signal if it is required for controlling process parameters. A typical application is the process control of temperature-critical stages in the manufacturing process. For example, such a process could be the heat treatment of thermally sensitive components. Another field of application is quality assurance, i.e. in the final testing of electronic, electro-mechanical or mechanical components or devices. The possibilities for applying INDU-SCAN are as varied as the fields of application of infrared thermography. Compared to non-stationary applications, the automated evaluation of thermographic images plays an important role beyond the gathering of measured data, often by means of industrial image processing. If an analysis of testing jobs is required in advance, users can benefit from InfraTec's expertise, which is based on more then ten years of infrared thermography experience. >>>
