    DeCAL 4201 is an acrylic binder ideally suited for use in waterbased flexographic inks for paper and corrugated board. The product exists as an alkali soluble carboxylated copolymer emulsion but can also be supplied in its neutralized varnish form as DeCAL 4202. In both cases inks prepared using either DeCAL 4201 or DeCAL 4202 possess excellent machine stability/resolubility, viscosity/pH stability, favourable viscosity/dilution curves and excellent pigment wetting characteristics. 1. Typical Properties: Tg : 35C Acid value : 77mgKOH/g solid resin Initial softening point : 100C See Technical Data Sheet for more details 2. Applications: Neutralisation of DeCAL 4201 can be achieved using any suitable alkali or volatile amine. These include Ammonia, Monoethanolamine(MEA), Diethanolamine (DMAE), Aminomethyl propanol(AMP) or Triethanolamine(TEA). DeCAL 4202 is supplied pre-neutralised with the commonly used Monoethanolamine(MEA). DeCAL 4201 tends to swell considerably in the early stages of neutralisation. As a result it is recommended that the product be prediluted to with water prior to any neutralisation and then left to stabilise for several hours afterwards before use. For full solublisation of the polymer the pH must remain above pH 7 where it exhibits excellent pH/viscosity stability. >>>

The gravimetric dispensing line addresses the increasing demand for fast turnaround times & consolidation of distribution centres by automating the complete process of order through to packing for custom batches of typically 1-10kg. The PO (press out) dispenser utilises a unique concept in dispensing whereby bases are stored within the dispenser in custom designed vessels of capacities ranging from 20-100 litres, these removable/reuseable vessels are filled on or off site straight from a 3 roll mill reducing another stage of manufacturing and wastage of standard drums or pails. The base is delivered from the vessel to the dispensing valve by a proprietary hydraulic press out system developed specifically for UV inks; this removes the need for piston pumps which are high maintenance and prone to seizure with UV products. Waxes, Varnishes & Driers are all accommodated within the system by varying methods of delivery, typically AoD pumps, piston pumps or pressure vessels.     The Alphasense Chlorine Electrochemical range of sensors, are available in both the company's 'A' ,'B' and D series sizes, and are clearly yellow colour code.     DeCAL 4214 is a water borne transfer additive for flexographic inks. It improves definition by controlling the ink film weight. The pigments, binders and machine characteristics will determine the addition level, usually between 2 - 4% as supplied on total formulation. DeCAL 4214 also improves the clean down on the press by increasing the open time. 1. Typical Properties: Appearance : Clear colourless liquid Solids : 20% Viscosity : 4700 mPa.s Brookfield RVT 10rpm 2. Procedure: An acrylic grinding media such as DeCAL 4286 and water should be mixed and ground with pigment until a fine dispersion is formed. The remaining ingredients are then added and mixed well to form a homogenous pigment concentrate. In emulsion paint systems we recommend adding half to the pigment grind and the balance to the final blending.     DeCAL 5110 is a newly developed silicone based defoamer suitable for application at elevated temperatures and pressures as well as under atmospheric conditions. DeCAL 5110 is a silicone based antifoaming agent with an emulsifying system which is effective at temperatures up to 130°C. 1. Typical Properties: DeCAL 5110 Gives excellent de-foaming and foam prevention properties to all types of surface active agents in aqueous media. A carefully selected emulsifying system allows it to be used in high temperature and pressure processing, 2. Application: It is advisable to dilute DeCAL 5110 with water before adding to the bulk liquor. For maximum efficiency we would recommend diluting the product with 8-12 parts of cool soft deionised water. The water should be added slowly to the antifoam with low shear mixing. The dilution should be used within 12 hours. It is recommended that 200 ppm (0.2 g/l) is used initially and the results obtained will indicate whether a further addition is required. >>>
