The Great Desert Tracks -
CD-ROM features the 6 maps of the Great Desert Tracks Series at 1:250,000 in both OZF2 (OziExplorer) and ECW formats, plus the famous Companion Guide in a digitised form, giving background information to the project, thumbnail guides to the Top 25 Tracks, an equipment checklist, and also a bit of guidance on different types of communication and a basic remote area first aid section.
The CD-ROM comes complete with OziExplorer Lite map viewer and latitude/longitude positioning.
The Great Desert Tracks maps cover from Eulo in Outback Queensland to the Pilbara in Western Australia and stretches from the Gibb River Road south to the Great Australian Bight, and all maps or map excerpts are easily printable.
The diversity of the graphic tools makes it possible to calculate route distances, and bearings as well as latitude and longitude or AMG waypoint positions. It is also possible to enter individual routes or add personal data (both graphic and text) to a map, search for all displayed place names, or highlight points of interest (including fuel and camping locations), routes and sites.
The DVD is compatible with Windows and most GPS (Eagle, Garmin, Lowrance and Magellan).

Features include Tidal Height Predictions for 2006, providing an interactive full harmonic tidal height predictor simply by clicking on the tide icon. Real Time navigation is at your fingertips, simply by connecting the chart plotter to a GPS enables users to track their vessel across the chart in real time, an important safety feature and ultimately freeing up time.
The new features are:
Enhanced Route Planning - using the tidal height and stream data to automatically correct a planned route and provide course-to-steer (CTS).
Easy Chart Selection - simply by right clicking on the chart, the user can easily select the next larger/smaller/same scale chart at the cursor position.
Chart Expiry and Updating - the charts contained in each pack do not expire, however, it is recommended that users update annually, as users cannot update charts.
Improved Chart Coverage - which can simply be extended by purchasing additional CD's from the sailing areas around the UK .
Tidal Height Prediction - can be made for standard and secondary ports contained within each chart park.
Other features include: easy waypoint entry; easy route creation; avoidance zones; electronic bearing and distance lines; directional planning arrows and large buttons.

The Philips’ Navigator map of Northumberland is a high-scale indexed road map showing the entire county, and some of the surrounding area, derived from Ordnance Survey information. Road networks are clearly shown, including smaller roads & tracks. Distances are given in miles along main roads between key points. Tolls, tunnels & steep gradients are also marked with symbols. The map is indexed for town & village names and key sights.
Railways, National Trail footpaths (England), Long Distance Footpaths (Scotland) and navigable rivers & canals are shown. Land use (built-up areas, woodland and national parks) is indicated with shading. No indication of topography is given, except spot heights in feet for selected peaks. National & administrative boundaries are highlighted.
Symbols denote important travel, transport & tourism sites. Travel information includes service stations, emergency roadside telephones, camping & caravanning sites, ferries & airports. Higher-scale town plan insets are given for Berwick-Upon-Tweed, Sunderland and Newcastle-Upon-Tyne at approximately 1:15,500 scale, which show additional information for main streets, one-way routes, key attractions & destinations, town-centre parking, police stations, post offices, parks and hospitals. Separate street & location indexes are given for each.
