PILING FRAME

PILING FRAME

Piling Frames Piling frames, also called gates or trestles are extensive used in steel sheet piling, they are less often used in trench sheeting, but are an essential part of any plastic piling installation. A frame, when properly constructed will serve to increase the accuracy of pile driving, will act against the pile flexing and twisting and when properly constructed will serve to resist pile leaning. This can occur when the hammers force is directed obliquely onto the pile being driven, the interlock design transmitting the load long the driven pile wall causing all piles to lean in the direction of the applied force. Thereare a wide variety of designs available, some made from timber, others from steel. The majority of often considered as on-site fabricated units, but some proprietary systems also exists. Design vary based upon whether the sheets are being installed on a water or land based application. As yet, APE do not supply piling frames, although we hope to in the not to distant future. Piling frames can consist of variety of designs, from fabricated steel systems, to basic timber walers supported by scaffold tubes. It is common practice, to have two walers along the pile length, and the bottom waler serving as the ultimate tie-back waler, left in place with the sheet piles. >>>

GEOTECHNICAL PIONEER DRILLING RIG

GEOTECHNICAL PIONEER DRILLING RIG

The multi-purpose Pioneer drilling rig was developed by this company as a versatile, compact yet powerful machine to carry out a wide variety of ground investigations in many different situations. We currently operate 13 Pioneer rigs, in 3 different versions. In the right ground conditions… The original Pioneer is capable of: • Dynamic sampling of soils to 20m deep to obtain near-undisturbed continuous samples up to 112mm diameter retained in a plastic liner, forming boreholes of up to 128mm diameter. • Rotary core drilling to 50m deep to obtain continuous rock cores of up to 112mm diameter, using a range of drilling flushes. • Working in restricted areas, and forming boreholes (and sampling) at any angle. The Pioneer 2 is capable of: • Dynamic sampling (see above) • Rotary core drilling to 80m deep. • Hollow stem flight auger boring to 20m, forming boreholes of up to 300mm diameter and allowing installation of up to 150mm diameter standpipes. The Pioneer HT is capable of: • Dynamic sampling (see above) • Hollow stem flight auger boring to 30m. All versions are capable of: • Standard penetration testing (SPTs) to BS1377. • Undisturbed soil sampling of 100mm and 70mm diameter. • Forming boreholes for a variety of ground remediation techniques. • Installing standpipes, monitoring wells, biaxial inclinometer tubing, and various other instruments. • Coring neat 250mm diameter holes through hard-standing, prior to hand dug inspection pits. • Rotary percussive and open hole drilling to 100m depth. • Moving around sites on rubber tracks with minimal disturbance, coping with difficult terrain. The Pioneer rigs are easily mobilised to site on trailers towed by Landrovers, or on ‘flat-bed’ trucks, accompanied by a large van carrying all ancillary equipment and materials. The flush pumps are integral to the rig. Pioneer rig dimensions and weight Access width/height/length: 1.5m / 2.2m / 4.6m Operating width/height/length: 1.5m / 4.6m / 4.0m Working area: 7m by 2.5m minimum Weight: 2.75 or 3.5 tonnes The rig can be adapted to reduce the access width to 1.0m and the operating height to 2.50m. >>>
