Curtis Alloy Steel Joints feature 41L40-grade steel for all forks. Forks of 7/8 inch diameter and larger have induction-hardened bearing areas for strength and durability. The body (hubs) of the joints remain in an annealed state, which affords free machinability. Center blocks and pins are machined from 86L20 alloy steel. Center-blocks and pins are carburized and case hardened to generate superior wear characteristics yet remain ductile, thereby enabling the joint to handle shock loads without experiencing premature failure. Universal joint hub modifications are available per customer specifications, which include but may not be limited to bores, keyways, set screw holes, square holes and hex holes. The construction of a Redflex® joint is very much like a heavy-duty truck tire: layers of high-quality elastomers are reinforced with steel wires and synthetic fabrics. The inner layer forms a tube that extends through the inside of the joint, and across the face of the end flanges. This layer is chosen based on its chemical compatibility and abrasion resistance and temperature rating to the process material. The T-205 Redflex® Expansion Joint is supplied with a solid Teflon® Lining for maximum chemical resistance. The middle layer of the joint contains the bias-ply synthetic fabric reinforcement that gives the joint its form and pressure rating, and a layer(s) of wire reinforcement for added strength. The outer layer of the joint is chosen to be compatible with the environment in which the joint is to be installed, usually Neoprene or Butyl. This allows the joint to stand up to occasional contact with oils, corrosion, and weathering. Redflex® Expansion Joints features full-face integral flanges that eliminate the need for additional gaskets when installing the joint. The flanges are drilled to mate with ANSI 125/150 flanges, with special drilling available upon request. Galvanized or stainless steel retaining rings can be provided to protect the flange and distribute forces evenly. Redflex® Joints can also be manufactured to meet Coast Guard and Military standards as well. Redflex® Expansion Joints are available with a single arch, double arches, or triple arches to meet the face-to-face and movement requirements of the installation. The arches, along with the flexibility of the elastomer construction, allows the J-1 to provide stress relief in piping systems due to the thermal expansion and contraction, and mechanical movements and vibration. Special multiple arch designs, filled arches, and wide arches are also available. >>>

Chimneys consisting of a concrete casing and one or more internal pipes are exposed to considerable chemical loads of acid condensate as a result of the low flue gas temperatures after the flue gas cleaning system. The internal pipes, mostly made from acid-proof lining bricks, are arranged one on top of the other and rest against the outside casing.The lining joints are sealed flexibly and acid-proof with Fluachem® fluoro-elastomer expansion joints (FKM), to avoid any leakage of condensate. There are comparable sealing points at the bottom of the funnel and at the opening of the chimney. The expansion joints, which are supplied open, are closed on site by hot vulcanization.
