    BAR FLEX

    BAR FLEX

Flex from Target is a Grade 304, or Grade 316 for exceptional requirements, austenitic stainless steel reinforcing material that has many unique properties. Being rolled from a plain round wire, the fins are work-hardened to a very high level whilst the core remains relatively soft. The subsequent twisting process puts the fins into tension and the core into compression. The tensile strength of the base material is more than doubled during the manufacturing process. The pronounced fins over the core make the bonding characteristics of Bar Flex far superior to alternative standard reinforcing materials. Available in 6mm, 8mm or 10mm, the Bar Flex acts as a strong coiled spring within its linear elastic range. Load and performance details are available upon request. BAR POST-TENSIONING

    BAR POST-TENSIONING

SSL Bar Systems are ideal for the economic application of post-tensioning forces on relatively short tendons. Through the use of threaded connections and anchorages they are simple to use and lend themsleves to many applications. The robust coarse thread (CT) provided to the SSL Stressbar ensures rapid and reliable assembly, particularly suitable for onsite use and reuse. Typical Applications are: Buildings, Bridges, Wharves & Jetties, Soil and/or Rock Anchors and Specialist Engineering. Corrosion Protection All bars and fittings must receive protection when installed under permanent conditions. In normal concrete construction the use of galvanised duct injected with grout provides excellent protection. Anchorage recesses must also be filled with cement mortar to protect these ends. When bars are used in an exposed environment then other coating systems are available for the bar and fittings. Temporary Bar Anchors Anchors used in a temporary environment may be used without protection apart from grout required to the bond length. Permanent Bar Anchors These anchors require installation into corrugated polyethylene sheathing similar to strand anchors to provide multiple levels of protection. This is accomplished by the internal grout and sheathing barrier. Additional protection may also be used by incorporating the above bar coating systems. For more information on Structural Systems Bar Post-Tensioning System, contact one of our offices and request a technical brochure, or you can download one here. >>>

    GROUNDSCREW

    GROUNDSCREW

The GroundScrew provides foundations for the following structures: Housing Developments Wind Turbines Telecommunications Masts Pipeline Anchor Systems Temporary Buildings Foundation Reinforcement for Additional Storeys Geo-Thermal Projects Footbridges and Walkways Gantries Signs, Signals and Hoardings Street Furniture Earth Retaining Walls and Embankments Areas with high water content Areas where trees or tree roots pose a problem and anywhere else where traditional sand and cement is used! Features The GroundScrew is a hot finish seamless round hollow section with one or more helices welded to it. It is constructed of ASTM A Gr 106-B/C grade carbon steel which is of excellent quality. It can be galvanised if conditions necessitate this. Each GroundScrew is individually engineered, customised and manufactured to our Clients' requirements for each project. The GroundScrew can be installed to depths to avoid desiccation and heave. The GroundScrew is available in stem diameters from 60mm to 1M with one more more helices. A variety of combinations of diameters and helices ensure that each GroundScrew will perform to requirements for either small or large projects. The GroundScrew is a tried and tested system; it has been used very successfully in North America and beyond for nearly two decades in all types of substrates and conditions from frozen to swampy land. Uses New Build The GroundScrew can be used in new build situations; a ring beam can be constructed on top to provide a well founded base for single and multi storey structures. The GroundScrew can be inserted well beyond the depth achievable with traditional foundations. The GroundScrew is extremely quick to install, especially compared with traditional methods, thereby saving in time and costs. No time is wasted for waiting for concrete to cure. The GroundScrew is excellent for brown field sites. The GroundScrew is excellent where tree roots are a problem. The GroundScrew is excellent where water is a problem. Why have a ground floor on flood plains? Remedial The GroundScrew can be used in remedial situations even to the point where a building can be jacked up using our specially designed capping detail. The GroundScrew can even be installed in areas where height restriction is a factor. There is minimum disturbance to the soil and the structure. There is also minimum disturbance to the inhabitants of the structure. Tie-Backs The GroundScrew can be used in compression as a normal load bearing pile or in tension as a soil nail or tie-back to support, for example, earth retaining walls or embankments. Insertion The GroundScrew requires no grouting or other process. The GroundScrew can be easily battered into position if necessary, making it ideal for tie-backs. The GroundScrew is screwed, with maximum energy efficiency, into the ground using a torque motor as opposed to being vibrated into position. Gauges monitor the torque and provide a guide to the load capacity being borne by the GroundScrew. Minimum disturbance to the surrounding substrate, structures or neighbours. The GroundScrew is extremely easy to install using conventional machinery. Lightweight machinery is required for difficult to access sites. The GroundScrew can be screwed accurately into position ensuring perfect placement. Sections of the GroundScrew are conected with either high tensile bolts, for the smaller diameter GroundScrews, or welded for the larger diameter GroundScrews. Various capping details are available for both new build and remedial applications. Environmental The GroundScrew is very environmentally friendly. There is very little or no spoil removal and hence no landfill. Transport and fuel implications associated with spoil removal are also reduced. The quantities of sand, cement and water required in traditional foundations are not required. The GroundScrew can be removed and reused which makes it ideal for temporary buildings. >>>

ANGLE HEADS - OMG TA SERIES

ANGLE HEADS - OMG TA SERIES

The new OMG TA series of angle heads has been manufactured in order to execute machining operations that horizontal or vertical machine tools are unable to perform except with further piece placements. Hence, the angle heads further reduce mechanical machining times and costs. O.M.G. markets a renewed and extended range of angle heads as follows: TA 90° single-spindle TA... 2 series two opposite spindles TA... D series single-spindle with internal coolant through the tool TAO series offset single spindle particulary on milling operation TAO... D series with high pressure coolant through the spindle center TAV series the angular position of the spindle is adjustable from +90° to -90° TAF series the angular position of the spindle is made according to customer requirements. Special heads made according to customer requirements. The angle heads made by O.M.G. can be fitted to traditional machine tools, machining centres with automatic tool change and lathe centres with motorised turrets. The heat-treated kinematic mechanism, the precision bearings and the Gleason bevel gears, provide all heads with excellent strength and precision in "cantilever" machining operations. The new antirotation system increases strength and positioning precision; when extreme angle head performances are required, we suggest using the Triblock system. The TA series of angle heads has been studied and defined by advanced computerised systems as a support to OMG?s 40 years? experience in the sector. All this has resulted in innovative solutions being achieved in terms of building materials, , heat treatments and machining operations, in order to obtain precision, strength, reliability and excellent finishes. >>>

    UNCOOKED FOOD : GREASE TRAPS

    UNCOOKED FOOD : GREASE TRAPS

Pork Processing Plant - Scotland: This large plant processes fresh pork meat. A proportion of the meat is vacuum packaged but the majority of the meat is either smoke cured as ham or bacon cuts. Before the Bio-Katz treatment was commissioned the plant was continuously failing the consent limits laid down for this plant. The COD/BOD and Fat/Grease values were a factor of 10 times higher than consent guidelines. The grease trap was regularly becoming blocked after4-5 days. There was also a major smell emanating around the plant and surrounding industrial area. Results Of Bio-Katz Treatment: The Bio-Katz treatment commenced and within 36 hours the Bad Odour problem was not detected. After 4 weeks the build-up of fat/grease had considerably diminished. From our analysis we measured a 68% reduction in fat/grease build-up from week 4 to week 9 and a 52% reduction in COD levels. At this stage we reduced the treatment level by 30% and discovered that the new treatment level was still reducing the fat/grease loading whilst holding the COD steady. >>>
