Brazed Plate Heat Exchangers APV standard P types offer AISI 316 stainless steel plates and connections with copper brazing. The units are rated for 450 psig/31 bar operating pressure with a maximum temperature of 437°F/225°C. P series are typically installed with a Y-strainer to protect the unit from debris, while custom insulation kits minimize ambient losses. A principal system design includes a primary heat source (i.e. boiler) and a secondary loop such as snowmelt or radiant circuit. Sanitary instant hot water can also be produced from this system with the use of appropriate controls. Due to the low internal volume of the brazed exchanger, instant hot water is possible in many cases eliminating the need for thermal storage tanks. Inherent of their turbulent flow, brazed plate heat exchangers resist particulate fouling and scaling. Units can be cleaned using a phosphoric or citrus acid solution circulated in reverse at 1.5 times the normal fluid flow rate. Replacing bulky shell and tube, coiled, coaxial and other less efficient heat exchangers, brazed plates have allowed system designers not only to think outside the box, but also to make the box smaller - pushing the boundaries of system design. >>>

The HRS Brazed Plate Heat Exchanger range works on the same principle as conventional plate heat exchangers, but consists of a pack of corrugated plates joined together and sealed by furnace brazing. Typically the units are copper brazed, however for those applications where the medium is aggressive to copper, or for where temperatures range from 225?C to 400?C, then nickel is used. The plates are manufactured as standard from high-grade AISI 316 acid resistant steel with a thickness of either 0.35mm or 0.4mm dependent on the model type. The arrangement of the plate pack creates two interleaved channel systems enabling the two media to flow past and between each other without physical contact, leaving the exchanger again via connections in the pressure plates. Plates with different patterns can be mixed in the heat exchanger in order to achieve optimum efficiency at a given pressure drop. By installing special distribution plates in the plate pack the media can be conducted several times through the flow channels and thus participate longer in the heat exchange process. Description of Apparatus Thermo Line plate heat exchangers consist of a number of corrugated plates. The plate pack is mounted between a fixed and a movable pressure plate, positioned by an upper and a lower carrying bar, and compressed by several tightening bolts. Gasketed type plates and welded modules with various patterns are available for a wide range of applications. The media can pass the heat exchanger either in concurrent or counter-current flow. Depending on the operating conditions media and temperature-resistant gaskets of the glued on or clipped on version are used. The welded plate module forms are hermetically sealed flow channel to the outside. The transition from one module to another is sealed by a ring gasket made of a special material. >>>

HYGIENIC PLATE HEAT EXCHANGERS

HRS Hygienic Plate Heat Exchangers are manufactured from either AISI 304 or 316 stainless steel, glass bead blasted end plates and features stainless steel AISI 304 tie bolts, upper and lower guide bars and frames to ensure germ free operation. The range incorporates pressed, herring bone patterned heat transfer plates, which are mounted in an alternate inverse formation to create two channels, one for each fluid. Where the pressings intersect a large number of points of support are created which leads to a high level of turbulence and subsequently excellent heat transfer properties. Glueless clip type gaskets are used on these heat exchangers to reduce operational downtime by allowing for easy servicing and maintenance. Each gasket has a number of two-pronged clips that slide beneath the plate to hold the gasket securely in the gasket groove. These clips are placed at regular intervals around the edges of the plates so that when the unit is assembled and tightened, the gasket provides a complete and secure seal. The gaskets are arranged so that the two fluids are directed into the alternate channels created by the plates. There is a double seal arrangement around the two points, which ensures that if fluid leaks it passes through the interspace and then directly to the atmosphere, thereby avoiding cross contamination of the two fluids. All HRS Hygienic Plate Heat Exchangers are computer-designed in-house and are calculated to obtain the correct thermal length for the heat transfer duty required, within specific parameters. Two types of thermal length plates, high and low theta, are available so that unit sizes can be optimised across a spectrum of duties. By mixing the two types of theta plate, the most cost-effective solution can be provided. These stainless steel framed hygienic plate heat exchangers are also of a very flexible design so that multi-section units consisting of two or more plate packs separated by intermediate pressure plates or C-plates are possible.
