    Over thirty years ago, Clayton developed a line of exhaust gas steam generators for the marine industry. Today, Clayton offers a full line of heat recovery systems for marine, industrial, and power plant applications (co-generation). Our products are in operation around the world, recovering heat from engines, turbines, ovens, and furnaces. The heat input can be as little as 250 °C (482 °F) or as much as 1,200 °C (2,292 °F) The Clayton Exhaust Gas Boiler consists of a number of sections. Each section contains four to six spirally wound ?pancakes?. The sections are stacked between inlet and outlet cones to provide efficient gas flow, heat transfer, and steam or hot water production. The Specifications page provides performance envelopes for our most common models. Co-generation is the most popular use for the Clayton Heat Recovery/Exhaust Gas Steam Generator. These systems are operating on the world?s finest reciprocating engines, burning natural gas, diesel and heavy fuel oil. The heat recovered can be used solely for the engine plant, in the case of heavy oil fired engines, or can be provided for a factory?s process and production needs. The unique controlled circulation, counter-flow design offers significant advantages to our customers. The Clayton system is simple, durable and very reliable. The boiler is compact, easy to clean and can be run dry up to 450 °C (842 °F). Clayton provides units in a variety of steam/water flow configurations. The primary systems are: * The R-System that is designed to eliminate concern about dew point corrosion (with heavy fuel oil), by providing elevated feedwater temperatures through a re-circulation flow. * The E-System that provides efficient heat transfer with a simple once through design. * The Lamont System that provides a split flow design for greater heat absorption when large amounts of exhaust gases and steam production is required. * The Combi-System that is designed to incorporate an exhaust gas boiler and fired steam generator sharing a common steam drum. The Combi-Sytem can be used when the prime source of heat is insufficient for the steam demand or when the prime source of heat is intermittent. >>>

These units are controlled flow, water tube boilers, built to the appropriate national and local standards, using high quality materials and workmanship. Units are designed to burn natural gas, propane, light oil and heavy oil, as well as a combination of these fuels and are available with steam design pressures up to 3000 psig. Superheat Units, which provide superheated steam, are also available in a variety of sizes and for a range of steam pressures and temperatures. The unique design of the Steam Generator and the unique manner in which steam is produced leads to the numerous advantages that Clayton equipment provides. In addition to the Steam Generators themselves, Clayton offers a complete line of feedwater components that, along with the Steam Generators, are offered in a variety of factory packaged and skid-mounted configurations.     AMETEK Airscrew heaters are of lightweight and robust construction. According to the application requirements, fan heaters can be configured for 28 VDC (commutated or brushless), or single/three phase 400 Hz supply. Heater elements can be supplied with 28 VDC, 270 VDC and 115/200 VAC supplies. Power ratings range from 125 W Fan Heaters are normally fitted with mixed flow fans that have low pressure levels and do not generate discrete tonal noise. Heater elements are designed for safety and low-pressure and to ensure that surface temperatures are always limited to acceptable levels. The heat source can be specified from three main technologies, heater rods - high resistance wire, hermetically sealed within a stainless steel tube; silicon mats - high resistance wire, sandwiched between layers of glass reinforced silicone rubber; and PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) elements - metal coated ceramic ships. Heater rods are used in conjunction with extruded or cast aluminium heat increasing the surface area for heat transfer. Silicone mat technology provides low pressure-drop across the heater and low thermal inertia for rapid heating and cooling. Clean and smooth surfaces reduce accretion of dust and other contaminants and therefore maintenance. PTC elements by their nature provide a self regulating feature, which eliminates the requirement for temperature control, making the heater inherently safe even under failure conditions. >>>

    Clayton provides a line of Steam Generators to provide superheated steam. These units use the same proven design as the basic Steam Generator that produces saturated steam, but with the addition to the helical coil of an integral superheater section, in which the steam is superheated. The use of the integral superheater section eliminates the need for a separately fired superheater. Units can be provided in a configuration that allows the user the option of providing saturated or superheated steam. Superheated steam can be provided at pressures up to 850 PSIG (57 bar) and at temperatures up to 650 ºF (343 ºC). These units are available to provide superheated steam in a variety of applications ? for industrial needs, as well as, as auxiliary boilers in power plants, and anywhere that superheated steam is needed. Since superheater Steam Generators are essentially of the same design as saturated steam units, they provide the same advantages.
