The associated pressure transients can be damaging to pipework or components and systems must be designed to avoid or withstand them. The equipment designed by Armfield clearly demonstrates the different effects resulting from gradual or instantaneous changes in fluid velocity (created by slow and fast valve closure). Effect of initial fluid velocity can also be investigated. Pipe surge resulting from a gradual change in fluid velocity is clearly seen as fluctuating changes in head in a surge shaft. Water hammer resulting from a rapid change in fluid velocity is clearly seen as large changes in pressure monitored using a pair of transducers and indicated using an oscilloscope. >>>

    Proceq ORIGINAL SCHMIDT Concrete Test Hammers are used for the non-destructive measurement of the concrete/mortar compressive strength and the control of the uniform concrete quality (in-situ concrete and prefabricated structures) as well as for detecting weak spots. The compressive strength (fc) is established by measuring the hardness (rebound value R) of the concrete surface and with the conversion curves. ORIGINAL SCHMIDT Concrete Test Hammers with various impact energies can be used depending on the form and sizes of the concrete structures (lower impact energy for thin and/or weak components). Versions with paper chart recorders (LR and NR) can automatically register the rebound values on a paper strip chart. ORIGINAL-SCHMIDT Concrete Test Hammer - Type N Kit as supplied Combined measuring with the Ultrasonic Instrument TICO increases the accuracy. The types N, NR, ND, L, LR, LD are suited for measuring the compressive strength of concrete of 10 to 70 N/mm2 (1'450 to 10'152 PSI).
