    HINGED UNITS

    HINGED UNITS

The Product: When it comes to providing an unobtrusive secondary glazing system, the hinged unit provides the most appropriate solution, since there are no transoms or mullions to spoil the view. The reduction in noise, and improvement in thermal insulation, greatly enhances both the living and working environments. How it works: The hinged unit can be manufactured in two main types. The single hinged unit opens on a restricting friction stay. Where the application is on a larger scale, the friction stay is replaced with a butt hinge. We have developed and rigorously tested a variety of butt hinges for differing leaf weights. The double hinged unit has been primarily designed to fit in front of larger Windows or French Doors, utilising the same range of hinges. >>>

    GROUT CONNECTOR

    GROUT CONNECTOR

Grout Connectors FoundOcean’s unique ROV Grout Connectors are specifically designed for underwater connection of grout lines. A remotely operated vehicle (ROV) mates these connectors during structural grouting of subsea structures. FoundOcean (formally SeaMark Systems) first developed this system for deep-sea structures in the Gulf of Mexico in the early 1980s to reduce the amount of fixed pipework required on the structures. For over 20 years these connectors have been used worldwide in various water depths to reduce onshore fabrication costs and offshore installation costs by eliminating the need to install and remove temporary pipework. The connectors are manufactured from mild steel with the exception of the locking pin assembly, which is in high tensile stainless steel. The male half is provided with a protective coating, typically manganese phosphate with a dry film lubricant which provides corrosion protection until offshore installation of the structure is complete. Yard fitting requires only a pipe wrench or welding, at the client’s option. Protective end caps can be supplied; these are vented to permit subsea removal by ROV. Foundocean is able to supply grout connectors to suit both 2-inch and 3-inch pipework depending on the individual client requirements. Sealing between the two halves is achieved with a piston fluid seal located on the male piece. The connection has a designed working pressure of 65 Bar (1000 psi) although the seal is rated to 100 bar (1470 psi). The male connector is mounted on the structure; the female half is attached to the grout hose. The males are either mounted in a manifold arrangement to provide a single location for connection or at the individual sleeves. FoundOcean can give advice on connector location or provide complete design of the grouting system for a project. The female connector houses the locking pin mechanism for ROV operation and may be fitted with a three-way dump valve and additional buoyancy, as required. The mechanical lock has to be turned through 180 degrees using the ROV manipulator, to engage in the groove in the male half. Minimum torque is required and a positive indicator is provided to show when the lock is engaged. Advantages FoundOcean’s subsea grout connectors provide the following advantages: Well proven and established track record Elimination of grout lines above pile sleeve Savings in materials, fabrication and commissioning No pipework removal at offshore work site Safe working by ROV: No diver support required Suitable for platform or template installation Compatible with FoundOcean’s ROV grout monitoring system Inexpensive compared with other mechanical connection techniques. >>>

KLARUWTEX 190 SYSTEM - AGGREGATE POLISHING

KLARUWTEX 190 SYSTEM - AGGREGATE POLISHING

KLARUWTEX 190: ANTI-SKID RETEXTURING High braking, cornering and turning forces create wide variations in both the levels and rates of aggregate polishing. At highly stressed sites substantially reduced skid resistance may occur as early as one year into the life of a wearing course, indeed, considerable proportions of a route will probably exhibit sub-standard skid resistance well before expiry of its design life. However, aggregate polishing alone should not justify replacement when proven alternatives exist. • REDUCES WET-SKID ACCIDENTS KLARUWTEX 190 controlled retexturing will substantially reduce the risk of wet-skid accidents at bends and in braking zones; at junctions, roundabouts, slip roads, traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, road tunnels and at the lead-in to contra-flow traffic management systems, along with airport runways. This proven treatment restores and/or maintains skid resistance to Highways Agency standards on roads and ICAO standards on airport runways. The KLARUWTEX 190 retexturing process restores both the micro-texture and macro-texture (TRL Report 296 refers) and the skid resistance of a carriageway surface is improved to the best value obtainable form the road stone being treated. Studies by TRL, on behalf of the Pavement Engineering group of the Highways Agency have shown useful and durable benefits for three summers after treatment. Mechanical retexturing of roads TRL Reports 298 and 299 refer: a study of processes and early performance life (298) and an experiment to assess durability (299). • PAVEMENT MANAGEMENT The KLARUWTEX 190 (K190) System is ideal for maintaining the necessary levels of skid resistance and for improving texture depth by repeatable (cyclical) re-treatment at high stress and problem areas. Significant extension of surface life provides real savings on a whole life cost basis when compared with other options, particularly in the Route Strategy/Route Action Plan scenario. • ECONOMIC AND COST-EFFECTIVE Evaluation of the maintenance options available for improving skid resistance, on a life cycle cost basis, show that KLARUWTEX 190 retexturing is economic, cost-effective and competitive. Only the mechanical KLARUWTEX 190 system offers the benefits of re-treatment. Rehabilitation, rather than replacement, makes sound economic sense. First year accident savings returns of up to 4000% have been realised, along with considerable reductions in street furniture and damage only accidents. • VERSATILE: ANY AREA - ANY SEASON - ANY WEATHER The KLARUWTEX 190 system enables skid resistance to be restored by day or night, in any weather conditions. 4-wheel drive and twin axle steering enables K190 machines to manoeuvre in restricted areas, turn in their own length and work close to obstructions. • FAST: MINIMAL TRAFFIC DISRUPTION The K 190 treats up to 800 sm per machine hour, minimising traffic disruption and reducing traffic management costs. A mechanical process and with no materials being laid, there are no cooling, curing or weather delays. The carriageway or runway can be trafficked immediately after completion of the treatment. The flexibility and efficiency of the operation ensures that works can be programmed with confidence within tight operational windows and in any season, to reduce delays and disruption. Operatives are not required within the Works Area and the operation is classed as Moving Works' within Chapter 8 and by the Health & Safety Executive. Positive control of traffic allows 'sideways clearance' to be at a minimum and will avoid the need for road closures in most instances. >>>

Its most common application is where limited access to the primary window is required, for example a window which has been installed with the sole object of providing light to a room. How it works: As well as economical, the Lift Out is also the most basic form of secondary glazing. As its name implies, it simply lifts out of a secured channel. For practical purposes, it is advised that the sash size be considered since the weight of glass must be of manageable proportions. Each sash is manufactured with double brush pile seal, further increasing the thermal and sound insulation properties. >>>
