IMPACT EXTRACTOR
These are air powered impact extractors, and so are directly related to APE’s air hammer range. They offer a simply and rugged design ideal for sheet extraction. In recent years, this design has
lost favour, when compared to vibrators, as the means by which the unit grips the pile, is somewhat more cumbersome. Further these products can only extract sheets, hence are typically used for temporary applications, in as a standby product if sheets have been miss driven, using an air hammer.
Overview
These are dedicated sheet extractors that operate in a similar way to an inverted air hammer, and so the impact generated acts to thrust the sheet upward.
All units use a friction grip, as opposed to a clamping mechanism, the strength of the grip is directly related to the pulling force and requires an opposing reaction force.
These extractors need to operate as close to the maximum pull as possible, if held loose substantial damage can occur.
These are design to extract sheets, but not to lift them out of the ground.
Ideally designed for use with crawler cranes, although some small models can be used with excavators.
Advantages
Provides the only alternative to vibratory extraction, therefore its impact mechanism can prove better at extracting in certain soils.
With only an upward force applied, ground vibration tends to be lower, and there is little chance of settlement problems.
If site is equipped with the correct compressor size, then these units are a good complement to air power impact hammers.
These are ‘suspended’ products and so will not tie-up the excavator.
Slender design enables extractor to be used closer to obstructions.
Disadvantages
Can only extract sheets – single use.
Friction grip can fail to release or can slip off pile.
Its use will not be permitted with mobile cranes.
Not as fast as a vibrator for sheet extraction.
Typically requires a larger compressor than impact hammer equivalents.
High noise levels.
Site needs to work a panel; rarely will a single sheet be removed in first operation, site need to use on several sheets until movement seen.
Cannot lift sheets out.
Cannot be used on Domex sheets

VIBRATORY EXCAVATOR ATTACHMENT
Aldridge Piling, offer the Dawson EMV70 and EMV300 range of excavator mounted vibrator. These are purpose built piling vibrators, designed to be excavator mounted. Unlike vibratory compactors,
these have two sets of eccentric weights, producing a purely vertical force.
Overview
These are the most common form of piling equipment used in the UK.
All units operate at high frequency, the frequency decreasing with vibrator size.
High centrifugal forces, up to 40 tonnes, with high amplitudes up to 14.4mm.
High power to weight ratio, much higher than vibratory compactors.
Ideal for loose granular soils, although less effective in dense cohesive soils.
Same unit can drive and extract.
Can be mounted onto excavators as small as 5 tonnes.

HYDRAULIC WALER SYSTEMS
MGF Hydraulic Waler Systems are used in conjunction with trench sheeting to provide a safe and effective trench support system. There are three types of waling system available to suit a wide
variety of trench depths and ground conditions. Each waling system can be installed from outside the trench to ensure a safe method of working.
Light Duty Walers offer a system suitable for shallower trenches and good ground conditions where the loadings will be low. The waler rails are available in lengths from 2.0m up to 4.0m in increments of 0.5m. Medium Duty Walers offer a system suitable for deeper trenches and poorer ground conditions where the loadings will be higher, while the Heavy Duty Walers offer a system suitable for the more onerous jobs. The waler rails for the Medium Duty and Heavy Duty systems are available in standard lengths of 5.0m.
Trench widths from 0.55m up to 2.275m can be provided using three types of hydraulic struts and a range of extension components. Wider trench widths can be accommodated by using MGF Manhole Brace legs.
All three waler systems are suitable for use with piling frames and the full range of trench sheets and light piles available from MGF. A high capacity waler system can be provided by using the MGF Tank Brace system with MGF Mechanical Struts.

TRENCH BOXES - TRENCHERS
MGF manufacture and supply three sizes of Trench Box (Mini, Standard and Titan) to suit a wide variety of trench depths, pipe diameters and ground conditions. Varying trench depths are accommodated
using top sections connected to the base units. An extensive range of trench widths is catered for using a range of adjustable struts, which enable quick and easy width adjustment of the trench boxes. All boxes are fabricated to suit the rigorous working environment that they are used in to minimise any potential damage.
MGF Mini Boxes are strong, lightweight units, which can be easily handled by the smaller range of excavators. Mini Boxes are ideal for shallower trenches and can carry one box top to give a maximum trench depth of 3.1m.
MGF Standard Boxes are the most versatile box in the range and are ideally suited for situations where a variety of trench depths, widths and ground conditions are likely to be encountered. The Standard Box can be handled by the more typical range of excavators and can carry a maximum of two box tops to give a maximum trench depth of 5.7m.
