The Edwards FireShield fire alarm family consists of 1*, 3, 5 and 10 zone conventional fire alarm control panels, and integrated DACT/Dialer*, serial annunciator modules, and serial remote relay modules. All of these components are microprocessor-controlled. The FireShield family is ideal for both new and retrofit installations alike.
Edwards FireShield incorporates features designed to simplify installation, operation and maintenance. These include front panel programming, one person walk testing, and selectable IDC and NAC types. In addition, these panels have combination waterflow and supervision IDC.
Options for the FireShield panels include serial bus relay modules programmable for common or zone activation, serial bus remote annunciators, city tie and reverse polarity modules, and optional trim rings for semi-flush mounting. An optional fully integrated DACT/Dialer provides 32 character LCD display, event history log, support for Contact ID and SIA DCS 4/2, and upload/download of Panel/DACT configuration, status and event history.
FireShield panels are powerful enough to meet the demands of today's installations while leaving plenty of room to grow in the future. All available current may be used for notification appliances, or up to 0.5 amps can be used as auxiliary current.
Optional modules and remote indicators mount in boxes with snap-trak or are gangable behind "Decora" switch plates.

EST2 FIRE ALARM SYSTEM
The EST2 Fire Alarm System is modular in design allowing systems to be easily configured to match installation requirements. With one Signature Data Circuit (SDC) EST2 is capable of supporting 96
detectors and 94 modules and has two built in Notification Appliance Circuits (NAC). The system supports the full line of Signature series detectors and modules. EST2’s modular design means the system easily expands to two SDCs and four NACs by adding a single 2-LCX
module increasing system capacity to 380 points/zones with four built in Notification Appliance Circuits.
The EST2 provides an RS-232 port to facilitate computer, coder and printer interfacing and an RS-485 communication port for supporting remote annunciation. Annunciation of system events are displayed on a back lit LCD with enhanced diagnostic LEDs on the front panel. There is space to add up to 48 additional points/zones of software controlled LED annunciation and switch control on the front panel. Both alpha-numeric LCD and annunciation LEDs are available for remote annunciation and control with the GE Security 2-LSRA and SAN series of annunciators.
EST2 features Auto Programming through the front panel and
Custom Programming via PC laptop interface. The Auto Program
mode will identify all devices on the SDC and automatically assign addresses to each device. Then the auto programming feature automatically links the proper response to the proper input, providing real time savings during installation.

In the 12 months to 31 March 2005 there were over 36,000 fires in non-domestic premises and these figures show that fire is still a major problem in modern day life.
If you speak to any of the Fire
Brigades in the UK they will tell you that false alarms generated by fire detection and alarm systems is a huge problem with over 443,000 being attended in the year to end of March 2005. So, not only are fires a big problem but so is some of the equipment that has been installed to give us early warning of these fires.

However, where no standards exist we can still approve innovative products by drawing on the experience of our scientists and expert groups to devise a suitable assessment regime for the product or service concerned.

TWINFLEX 2 WIRE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM
Incorporating the Multipoint detector with built-in sounder means the whole system can be installed using only one pair of wires.
Using the Multipoint detector as part of the Twinflex 2-wire fire
alarm system means that when a detector is wired in, a sounder is too - with no extra wiring required. This greatly reduces the number of points that need to be installed and the time it takes to install them.
As the Multipoint offers 7 different modes of detection, the installation is made even simpler as this one device suits all applications. Whatever type of detection is required, for any part of the installation, it can be selected by the flick of a switch at the time of commissioning. Any one of the 3 different smoke modes, 2 fixed temperature heat modes, a rate of rise mode and a combination smoke or heat mode can be selected.
As the Multipoint detector is available with or without a full specification 92dBA sounder (for only a marginal cost difference) no extra devices need to be purchased when audible warning is required (meets audibilty levels recommended in BS5839 Part 1: 1988). Twinflex callpoints can be run on the same pair of wires as detectors. Further cost savings can be utilised by using the new combined callpoint / sounder. Both detectors and callpoints have a selectable EOL module so any device can be set as the end of line monitor. The panel can also differentiate between callpoint or detector alarms.
If extra sound is required, or for areas that do not require detection, then the Hatari Sounder can be used on the same two wires, offering sound output of 100dBA. It also has a built-in EOL monitoring switch.
The panel can accommodate 32 devices per zone, has separate fault monitoring displays for each zone, and a one man walk test facility. Zones are configured without the need to use resistors or capacitors on unused zones.
All Twinflex Systems have the 'Checkpoint' alarm confirmation feature drastically reducing false alarms.
Repeater panels are also available for the Twinflex system, which use key switch access and have the facilities silence, sound alarms and reset.

This Panic Alarm system is simplicity itself.
To use, just press the red button on the top of the battery operated call unit.
A red light will show while the internal transmitter silently calls the mains powered display unit with its identity code up to 80 metres away, depending on local topography.
When the transmitted code is received, the identity number is displayed on the front panel, with the sounder operating until reset.
If another transmitter is activated before resetting the display unit, the illuminated digit will change to the new code received.
The beauty of this system is its simplicity of installation, and use. It is very discreet, and will help ensure that your staff feel secure when dealing with clients on a one to one basis, who may not be giving them the courtesy they deserve.
