Within Civil Engineering applications confinement with cellular systems (prevention of horizontal movement) substantially improves the material shear strength and improves bearing capacity. This is ideal for improving the performance of access roads, hard standings etc. Alternatively, the cells can be stacked in order to construct steep slopes or walls.
Within industrial applications cells are traditionally used as a light weight filler used within items to provide additional stiffness and strength.
