CENTRAL VACUUM CLEANING
Clyde Bergemann Materials Handling, through the historical association with Sturtevant manufacture both fixed and mobile Central Vacuum Cleaning systems which are commonly used within the Power
Industry to clean-up spillage’s in and around the coal handling and preparation plants, around the ash handling plant, and FGD plant.
These systems typically comprise a number of fixed vacuum tool connection points, with fixed pipework leading to either a permanent Vacuum Receiving Hopper and Turbo Exhauster, or in some cases, a vehicle mounted Mobile Receiving Hopper and Turbo Exhauster.
Central Vacuum Cleaning Systems are generally sized according to the number of operators likely to be using the system at any time, and the distance from the tool connection points to the Receiving Hopper. A typical 4 operator plant (2 allowed on any branch) as shown above will comprise Ø100mm common pipe from the filter / receiver, to Ø65mm pipe at the start of each branch, and Ø50mm final pipework and hose / tool connections. Pipework is constructed from welded steel heavyweight tube using standard elbows and fittings, or wrought-iron fittings such as pitcher Tee’s etc. More detailed information is covered in the Applications Manual and Product Design Manual sections of the encyclopaedia.
