SEKAM® CARBON-IN-ASH MONITORS
SEKAM® Carbon-in-ash monitors are used to automatically determine the Carbon content of fly ash in coal fired power plants and other major utilities, and is an important consideration for combustion
efficiency as well as ash marketing.
The presence of unburned Carbon in fly ash has shown to be a function of boiler design, coal quality, coal grinding mill activity and the heat release rate of the fuel being burnt.
In applications worldwide SEKAM® units are automatically monitoring trends in Carbon levels from today's modern coal fired boilers and plays an important role in the improved efficiency of the total combustion process.
SEKAM® is reliable: once calibrated the monitor runs automatically with only minor maintenance attention, limited to occasional electromechanical tasks.
Operating Sequence
Stage 1 - Initial Start up
Initially the isolating valve opens, the educator is on, the flue gas/ash is recirculated from the duct to SEKAM® back to the duct thus removing any dormant ash.
Stage 2 - Ash Collection
Isolating valve is closed. Ash is continuously drawn to the cyclone, disentrained and collected in the measuring column.
Stage 3 - % Carbon
Ash level continues to build making high level probe. At this stage the capacitance across the electrodes is measured and the % carbon value computed.
Stage 4 - Ash Discharge
Isolating valve opens and the discharge fluidisation assembly is initiated. Ash level falls below the high level probe and is conveyed back into the flue gas duct.

Saleability of ash with low Carbon content can be monitored where appropriate

INTEGRO'S small footprint makes it ideal for high
traffic areas, whilst strong design differentiation between the litter and ash sides, plus highly visual graphics encourage correct use. Large litter apertures enable easy disposal of litter, including large fast food containers. The purpose-designed cigarette disposal units incorporate grille holes and slots that are large enough to take cigarette ends yet small enough to deter the depositing of general waste. A stainless steel cigarette stubber plate is fitted as standard.
